Pause

It would be really helpful to have a pause option (in SP at least).
I see people often requesting it for SP. since 2020, but it is still not implemented, I just got in the game today, and didn’t even know the game had MP (it is not listed on steam page) but I don’t mind if MP does not have it (as i don’t care about much about MP anyways).
It is so strange that things continue when you open the menu for example, and on some maps (the random and really-hard ones after you choose specialisation, when you need to advance very carefully) it would help a lot to be able to go, pause for IRL reasons, and come back to continue, sometimes there are even lightnings falling left and right, killing you even if you “park” in a safe spot :frowning: .

Hello and welcome to the forums!

As a Dad, being able to pause at any instant (in single-player) is pretty high on my list of most desirable options for implementation. I haven’t found any developer information on if it’s on the list for the future, but put me down as another lover of this game and an option to pause.

I often just accept the fact that I’ll need to take a death to quickly help out at home. Without the pause option, I don’t actually attempt dungeons as often, and fairly often save legendary / exalted monoliths for when the kids are asleep, just in case.

You know this game is designed to be played in multiplayer or online mode.
Thinking is this way, I can’t even comprehend how implement a pouse button.

By the way, I don’t miss a pouse button.

im not 100% sure, but i think you can pause in diablo 3 when you play alone(online)

You certainly can, it’s convenient. I’ve been accustomed to it from D3 and Grim Dawn and even Elden Ring recently.

Yeah. This is one of those odd QoL type things that you understand why its not available but honestly wish it was. Real life always intrudes on grindy games like this and sometimes just finishing a map quickly isnt feasible without repercussions.

I didn’t, well at least i did not the moment of buying it. As steam store page states:

Single-player
Partial Controller Support
Steam Cloud

I had no way of knowing MP is included, of course i don’t mind it having MP, but a game “sold as” single player could have SP friendly features (at least in SP, in MP i understand that pausing might be more problematic to implement)

Why don’t you guys just pause your real life, until you’ve finished what you’re currently doing ingame.

Tell the damn Amazon guy, he has to wait 3 minutes because you’re in an echo (propably yell through the door).

And tell your kids that you’ll change the diaper AFTER that bossfight. It’s just a matter of education.

C’mon guys! Don’t make your real life issues to problems for the devs! Think about it rationally!

On a serious note: It’s certainly possible to pause in singleplayer or when alone in a MP session. Just the devs haven’t found out to do so. Might be complicated. Could also have something to do with the current SP client being separate from the coming MP client (that then will combine SP and MP), so it might have been a waste of time to implement it into the current client.

I’m not entirely sure, but I think I remember that there once was a pause function planned to be added a while ago. But due to technical issues it didn’t go live and was delayed (and still is).

It’s a nice QoL that finds it’s way into the game at some point.

to expand on this, in their editor it actually does pause, it just doesn’t work when they build it.
