If only there were a unique that gave % increased void damage based on things a Mage can get reasonably easily…

For a lot of skills you can choose between damage type and skill type damage increases.

Most slots that have %inc. dmg for damage types also has %inc. spell damage, which scales the same. Same goes for attribute scaling, that works for whatever damage type the skill does.
Mage has a lot of spell dmg and int in the passive tree.

Scaling damage types that are not inherently supported by the skills or passive tree is very easy in LE.

Also for leech, there are ways to get it via items. Or you go a route, that doesn’t even need leech, like a Ward based build.

There are void leech and spell leech options.

You can combine them as you need.

Up to 5% spell leech from the Black Sun timeline, 3% void leech per Siphon of Anguish ring & 9% from a Bleeding Heart. Ignoring the Mage affix that gives % leech while channelling since that’d require you to do some keyboard piano shenanigans to make sure that you’re channelling while the void damage hits which is probably not practical.

Also, if you release the skill and then start channeling after, the skill that’s already out doing stuff doesn’t get the channeling stat benefit because it has already been created. Only stuff that gets created while you are channeling gets the stats.

So the “x while channelling” stat isn’t applied to your character, it’s applied to skills while you are channelling?

No, that’s what I mean, it’s applied to your character. I assumed it was talking about something like casting void converted volcanic orb and then channeling something to make that already cast volcanic orb get “while channeling” stats, which it wouldn’t.

I probably just misunderstood, carry on.

For shrapnel from VO, does it get the character’s stats when it is created/shot out or is it inherenting the stats from the core when you shot it out.

The core creates the shrapnel and the core passes along its stats. If you were to cast Volcanic Orb and then begin to channel an ability, the shrapnel would not get any additional stats from you. The inverse is also true, if your stats go down after casting Volcanic Orb, the shrapnel are not affected by those stat changes. You could take off all your gear and both the orb and the shrapnel would be unaffected.

In short, once the Volcanic Orb is created, it and the shrapnel it creates completely ignore any stat changes which happen to you.

I’m confused, is leech a “stat” that is inherited by the damaging skill or is leech a character stat that is applied to damage at the point in time when the damage is done?

So if the core has 100% spell crit chance, then all the shrapnel would have the same 100% spell crit?

OK, so I just went in to test this all to make sure I was right and I’m not sure if this has changed from what is on live or not but in our current development build, all stat changes on your character are reflected live on Volcanic Orb after you cast it.

This is a direct contradiction to what I said above and I was just wrong.

Ok, that is consistent with live because I remember testing it and that seemed to be how it worked. I was getting ready for a bug post XD.

Cool, sorry for the confusion. I’m a little surprised that is how it’s working and I’m not sure why, but it is.

So you guys fixed snapshoting? Or is this working differently with minion skills?

Two different things but we are working on snapshotting.

remember when this was poster in 2020 and then they were like 2021 GUYS IS THE YEAR FINALLY WHAT YALL HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR and i spent money on the game and waited 2 years and now its 2022 about to be 2023 and they still havent released this?
