Hi EHG!
I originally raised the issue of party aura visibility in April 2025:
https://forum.lastepoch.com/t/playing-in-a-party-what-is-missing/76137
That topic is now closed, so I would like to revisit the problem with more specific examples from our Season 5 party.
We play together with:
-
A Cryomancer Necromancer using cold Skeletal Mages as the main damage dealers.
-
A support/hybrid Beastmaster.
-
A support Paladin.
We enjoy building characters that complement each other. However, some buffs from Warcry and allied auras are not clearly visible in the UI. This makes it difficult to verify whether our support skills are actually benefiting their intended targets.
For example, when the Beastmaster uses Warcry, we want to know whether the Necromancer’s Skeletal Mages received its relevant buffs and when those buffs expire. With the Paladin’s Holy Aura and other persistent support effects, we want to know whether the player and their minions are currently receiving the bonuses.
At the moment, we cannot reliably answer several important questions:
-
Did the buff reach the player, their minions, or both?
-
Is a particular minion currently within an allied aura’s range?
-
How much time remains on a temporary buff?
-
What bonuses are actually active on the affected target?
-
Do overlapping effects stack, refresh, or replace each other?
Skill descriptions help us plan builds, but they do not let us verify the actual state during combat. A buff on the Necromancer does not necessarily tell us what is happening to their Skeletal Mages.
This also makes troubleshooting difficult: when an effect is not visible, we cannot distinguish between a missed target, an expired buff, an intended restriction, and a possible bug.
My suggestions:
-
An optional panel for buffs received from allies.
Show the skill name, source player, remaining duration, stack count, and numerical bonuses where applicable. -
Clear indicators for persistent auras.
Show when an aura is affecting the player, and update the indicator when they enter or leave its range. -
A way to inspect buffs on minions.
This is especially important for another party member’s minions. A selected-minion panel or a compact summary would help. -
Clearer targeting and stacking descriptions.
Tooltips should distinguish between party members, all allied minions, and only the caster’s own minions. They should also explain how overlapping buffs interact. -
Display customization.
Let players filter less important effects and adjust icon size so the additional information remains readable during combat.
Even basic indicators confirming “buff active” or “aura affecting this target” would be a useful first step.
Could you clarify whether the missing indicators are intentional, known UI limitations, or bugs? Are improvements to party buff and minion effect visibility planned?
Thank you!
