If they started with classes, they will can continue with boosters for experience/movement speed, etc. Through battle passes, for example. Well, so what? Oh yeah, gachas
The cosmetics are very sparse. Of all that exists, maybe about 10 items are actually nice. Although the quantity is huge. They need to refresh cosmetics.
They could sell story skips to the people who canât be bothered to run the story down in a few hours. I would applaud if they milk people like that .
The problem with selling story skips is that they need to add an alternative way to level up.
Otherwise you have to also sell the level up of the character (and probably give it some base gear) to level 60 and thatâs basically P2W.
Simply being able to skip the campaign but then you have to do the campaign anyway because youâre level 1 and literally canât handle anything else is kinda dumb.
They could fund their experiments by selling us MTX. To do that, they just need to make them look good, which EHG unfortunately canât do. Compare it to POE; if you blindly click on any MTX on the store page, it will look better than any MTX in LE.
They also have a reasonable plan for making money from their experiments: releasing the game on PS5, and perhaps on Xbox and phones in the future.
After all, the game hasnât been in its final form for very long, and it hasnât yet acquired a significant amount of interesting and varied content. All it currently has are mob-filled holes, so I donât think paid DLC is appropriate against this backdrop.
So Iâm paying to playtest something that might even be taken away from me if itâs not good enough? No, thanks. I did that in early access, weâre past that.
If you release an F2P game then thatâs what you do, you experiment on your own pocket. The business model was communicated as purchase once and get ALL further content for FREE while you can purchase cosmetic stuff. Problem is, the MTX store was almost empty when the game launched, itâs still almost empty to be honest. If you plan to cover your expenses with money from a cosmetic MTX store then you better make sure to pack that store full of stuff that people actually want to buy. Iâve spent my free points and I havenât felt the need to purchase any more points because thereâs almost nothing in the store that begs for purchase. The bigger problem is Last Epoch has lost 70% of its initial player base by season 3. Even if they made shitloads of flashy cosmetic stuff thereâs simply not enough players now to make it profitable especially when seasons are dragged out to half a year. You wonât make any money on cosmetic stuff if you have only 1.5k concurent players for months.
Paid characters is just an escape route from to the backlash on the paid expansion but to be honest a paid expansion fits much more to a purchase once game than a paid character. I think the new character was part of the expansion which was supposed to be a paid one but they chickened out of a paid expansion and made the new character paid because they need to make money somehow. I think a paid character is a bigger disappointment than a paid expansion. Especially if itâs experimental.
Itâs neglectable. You can even remove this toons from participating in the leaderboards who cares? I donât care if someone else I never play with starts at lvl 1 or 60. Poop Consistency is more important to me then this. Everyone whoâs making a big deal out of this because it reduces playtime or whatever should look at people who will buy this. They arenât arround much longer or less long if you get a story skip for 20 bucks.
If people who think they are to good to speedrun a campaign in 4-6 hours lead to me not having to pay for stuff i shouldnât in the first place Iâm all for it. So make them lvl 60 and give them yellow T20 gear so their resis are maxed and their defences are in a good state. I donât give a rats behind as long as I profit from it and not have to spend money on basic stuff⊠like classes.
Youâd also need to prevent them from joining MG, in that case, otherwise theyâd have a leg up in getting the best items early on, which we know is actually important in a trade market.
If you make the skip only for the 2nd character (after your first one got past level 60 and finished the campaign) then thereâs no more issue (if theyâre also removed from leaderboards, of course).
Theyâll have a leg up no matter what. They are faster by a lot and can simply speedrun a second toon even faster with all the clutter they drop. I still donât give a rats behind because it isnât bothering me at all.
This might be a good middle ground. I guess I care far less about this then others because i only play with a selected few players and we play CoF anyway.
With this announcement, Iâm out. I donât have a problem supporting the devs through supporter packs while hoping to God the mtx quality improves but p2w classes?
I am looking forward to this tbh. I said in forums shortly after EL launched that I think it would be better if skills and ailments was not class locked. Open it up. excited to see the new stuff people come up with.
Please, tell me where should I look for info about unlocked ailments or even skills? Only some weightless rumors and assumptions here n there.
Re-read Juddâs announcements - " fully alternate playable class built on systems that work differently from anything else in the game. Weâre calling this new category Paradox Classes "
No cross-class, no unlocked etc.
does not say its not cross classes ither. could be anything.
so you saying it will be all new classes and skills not tested or anything?.. hmmm maybe.
ither way will be interesting
Beta testing new heroes for $ was not what we were promised. Promises mean nothing to Krafton. This is the new reality. This game is being turned into a money printer because Krafton has some big bills to pay.
