Paladin passive Alignment triggers off Vengeance for some weird reason

I was hoping it would trigger off Holy Trail, which has the ‘spell’ tag. Guess javelin doesn’t inherent it’s abilities’ tags?
For some reason it triggers off Vengeance. This shit ain’t working right.

The passive says that the next spell you cast, since Holy Trail is proc’d from Javelin, you’re not casting it directly. But if Vengeance is proccing it, that’s a bug.

There are a couple of weird interactions for this passive I’ve noticed too.

• it is triggered immediately by Holy Aura (passive, not activated), which doesnt make sense because you aren’t casting it (plus if it was going to work that way you might as well just make this a Holy Aura-specific passive since no paladin build is going to exclude Holy Aura)
• Consecrated Ground does not trigger this passive, even though its a spell you cast (especially if you spec out Judgement to only cast Consecrated Ground)

That’s likely due to the game auto-casting the aura for you when you load in to get it working. I’d imagine that’s a bit of a funky workaround they had to do to get it to function as an always on aura.

As I said above, Consecrated Ground isn’t a spell you manually cast, it’s a proc, unlike, say, Smite or Sigils of Hope. Judgement doesn’t get the spell tag, therefore it’s not considered a spell by the game.

Yeah, there is some semantic confusion for Consecrated Ground for sure. If you take the no-hit node then there is no functional difference between your character proc-ing CG and casting CG. You spend mana, and your character does an animation that brings it into being without any intermediary steps.

Semantics aside, i think the intention of this passive is “if you cast a spell with a healing component infrequently (because of mana cost, cooldown, etc), then you can get a large boost for it”. Consecrated Ground fits this pattern perfectly. Holy Aura and Vengeance (obviously) do not. Needs some work to align intended and actual behavior.
