Options for the visually impaired

Preface

Hello EHG! I want to first say that ya’ll are killing it, and I’m happy that you guys are suffering from success!

I’m someone that somewhat recently had an accident that has made me visually impaired, leading to a larger blind spot than most folks, having issues with loosing small moving objects (think trying to find your cursor on your desktop after a long period of not using it), and issues distinguishing things moving in darker settings. Due to this accident I have had issues with playing games I originally enjoyed. I believe there are some accessibility options that you could add to the game that would make the game a better experience for someone such as myself. Some of these suggestions I found are options in Path of Exile, and I believe they would be wonderful additions to the game.

Suggestions

  1. Allow us to make our cursor larger or smaller depending on our preferences.
  2. Allow us to change the colors (or have default presets) of the cursor to allow it to more visible when in instances where the cursor can get lost in the visuals.
  3. Allow us to tweak (or make larger) things like our overhead health bars, or even move elements around on the screen.
  4. Allow us to have accessibility options that would make it where we can see outlines of enemies, allowing for being able to see things that blend in with the background.

I understand that some of these might interfere with the amazing art direction you guys have, but for someone like me the game can get unplayable because of my disability, and I want enjoy your game in its entirety. Thank you for your consideration, and I’m really excited to see what you guys do next!

This has long been requested. Devs want to do it, but it’s not easy. It’s a limitation of the Unity engine that they haven’t managed to overcome. They will do it when they figure it out.
Until then, you can either change the cursor size in windows settings, which will also increase the cursor size in the game (but not the color) or you can use Yolomouse, which lets you change both. There is a steam paid version (3$) but I think there’s also a free version on github.

I don’t think you can move things on the screen, but there’s UI scaling in the game now. I don’t know if that increased the health bar size, though.

This helped me so much, thank you! I didn’t even think about this.

This helped. Wasn’t a huge improvement, but it still helps a lot for me to see.

Thank you whimsical stranger!

As for the rest of your points, the devs do track the forums and their issues, so I’m sure your suggestions are added to their list and they will work on them when they can. Might take a while, though.

I understand that. There are loads of stuff coming through that I would imagine there is a lot of time dedicated to sorting through all of this stuff.
