One way migration from online to offline for characters

At the beginning of a new season all my friends are playing and some are in US, some in EU and im in South Africa, so it makes sense for us to all create online characters in EU. However, as my friends drop off, I am left alone having to deal with high ping. Would it be possible to create a one way migration from online to offline so I can continue offline once my friends are done?

I support general idea of the title, but as for your problem, just switch to server fastest for you. Your characters are not bound to server.

closest is EU West, so 150-180ms.

To do this EHG would have to restructure the save files.

Reason is online and offline save files are structured differently. Other issue is this can open up a back door for people to figure out how to get a character back to online. Causeing cheating issues.

Not really. All they need to do is make a conversion from their saves in the database to the text file save.
It’s not something that’s hard. It’s just not a priority.

There’s also no way to do the reverse, since that would require database access which you don’t have. When you migrate the server simply sends the save file to be stored along with the rest. You don’t even have to include the conversion method in the client to be datamined, it can all be done via server.

Last official answer to this, a few weeks ago by Mike on stream, is: It should be doable, but we have no plans for this at the moment. (paraphrasing).
