On accessibilty options

Hello, with the 0.9 multiplayer patch and hype going around I have been talking to many a friend about this game, most have shown interest. One such friend is legally blind [can see, but barely] and they asked about accessibility options. After a brief discussion with him I have comprised a list some suggestions that would aide both him and myself. I am not blind, but my eyes do get strained at times due to my own poor vision. Though offering color and pallet swaps are good in theory, and I do suggest those as well, they may not help those with more severe or deteriorating conditions. For the following suggestions I think a degree of customization would be best as people may want to interact with or ignore the features as they see fit.

  • Distinct on hit audio cues for the various situations. I know the game has amazing sound design and improvements have been made coming in 0.9. My suggestion here is perhaps volume sliders for this in specific to be able to make those cues stand out.
  • My friend has noted that Unity has an available plugin for Windows Narrator, but does not recall the name. We think it might be UI Accessibility Plugin (UAP), but more research is required here.
  • High Contrast Fonts and visuals. Bright effects and font on a black background, he would not be able to see the background anyway.
  • Ability to change font size on item drops.
  • Separately the ability to change font size in general for the UI and chat.
  • Outlines that can separately be customized by color and width for enemies, characters, abilities, and projectiles. This goes back to the high contrast option, but could be wider expanded for colorblindness as well.
  • Keybinds for the different teleport to player options in party.
  • Cursor customization including use of windows cursor.

Audio cues and the ability to use Narrator to identify items, inventory, and skill tree options would be the highlight of the list as he uses audio cues to navigate his computer and games. This includes to knowing how many points you need in a skill to progress in that tree.

More people get to enjoy the game? I know for a FACT Path of Exile and Diablo 2 remake don’t have this kind of accessibility and I have a blind friend that would -kill- for a video game they can play. Love this. Love this love this.

I would like to add my support for accessibility features.

I recently found out I am at heightened risk of glaucoma, which left untreated results in severe vision loss. I am fortunate enough that we caught it early and I have the financial means to investigate, monitor and manage that risk.

Due to the speed at which glaucoma progresses, there are many who were not so lucky.

Same here, couldn’t play D2R with gamepad cause those idiots decided to make a lifebar with a different color than KBM. Resulting of people unable to see it. They are many complain about it. They sure have a "colorblind’ cursor but LMAO, i haven’t seen more useless shit than this.

Yeah, my friend was sorely disappointed after all the hype of accessibility options in that game only to find that while there were a lot for other things, none pertained to his case.
