Congrats on a great and successful launch of the first Cycle. However, I noticed there is an annoying complaint from EA, that is still in the game now. Why does the MINION tag need to be on literally everything that drops, let alone in VERY HIGH frequency? It is by far, the most dropped tag on items even now. I mean I get it, you want us to play minions without telling us to play minion builds. But when mobs and sometimes bosses playing meta, ignoring the minions and attacking you while ignoring the minions, it’s not a good state of play.
Please lower the frequency of item drops with the minion tag to that of elemental damage or something. I don’t like going through the game thinking item drops were severely nerfed, only to disable my filter and see minion, minion, minion, minion on basically 75% - 80% of the item drops.
Unless you’re playing an acolyte, I don’t think you get more minion affixes than the rest.
But to answer your question, in many non-minion builds, shared damage is still a very useful affix for some slots.
For example, 2H staff has an affix for shared physical penetration. Even if you don’t use minions, you still get the non-minion effect.
The minion tags are to enable more build variety. It’s simple as that.
Usually when you go minions you won’t do meaningful personal damage… and if you do meaningful personal damage your minions will only be supportive at best.
Hence the shared affixes reduce the overall affix list while providing the function fully. Maybe in the future when the game gets bigger and more complex they’ll be pulled apart, for now we have it like that though.
