Ok, we can't change the mouse icon, but

I don’t buy this for a second. The fact that they expect anyone to actually believe that tells me the only reason it isn’t an option already is they plan to eventually sell pointer packs in the store.

No, that’s not the reason. And it’s very cynical of you.
You’re saying that the devs that have repeatedly said that if ever there was a gold picking pet, they would give one for free to everyone, and the devs that have so far implemented 0 P2W features, are just doing this on purpose so they can collect money?

Not only that, your argument makes no sense. If that was actually the reson, and it was easy to implement, like you seem to imply, then they would have already added it as MTX.

So the fact that they haven’t only supports the fact that it’s not actually an easy thing to implement with Unity’s engine.
When they do, it’s quite likely we’ll get the PoE model: you’ll have a few free options to choose from and a few sold as MTX.

I’m a Software Engineer, and I’ve looked into why this is an issue.

Last Epoch is built with the Unity game engine, and Unity itself has no facility to change mouse size (which requires modern support for monitor DPI aware cursors, which Unity lacks). Even the support for changing cursors is filled with user-reports of problems. I believe (but have not tested) that unity’s method of implementing “custom” cursors may be Unity rendered, which means they would be lagged by FPS, rather than using the hardware cursor (which is always responsive and essential for games).

I far as I can see, to reliably do anything with cursors, EHG may need to get a source-license to Unity, and take on the problematic responsibility of changing Unity itself, and working with their custom version of Unity, which is a fairly daunting task for a small studio.

Third party mouse cursor can cause lag and I don’t recommend them. I had terrible lag issues that I tracked down to YOLOMOUSE, and which went away when I got rid of it.

My recommendation (and what I have done) is to use WINDOWS ACCESSIBILITY to increase the size and/or look of the mouse cursor. This will affect the cursor across all of windows, but having a bigger cursor all the time is a small price to pay.

For me, only works if I put a extremely bigger pointer, that because I’m a dyslexic, and for me, I have extremely difficult to find objects, that linked to a dyslexic problems.

And, I don’t want a cursor only for me, with my specially way I like. I just want a cursos with more contrast. This will benefit all the community and will have zero interference in any desing.

I have that issue with yolo, the program cause lag in game.

Perhaps, but if that’s the case it’s because decades of companies doing exactly this made me that way.

That would be fair, except EHG has always done the opposite every step of the way so far. They’ve always been very transparent about their intentions and their adamant refusal to place P2W features, or pay for QoL features.
They’ve always communicated openly about their issues and admitted their shortcomings.
They even let you ask the devs directly, either on discord or their stream, and they will give you an honest answer.

So I’d say they deserve the benefit of the doubt until such time as they give us a reason not to.

Well in that regard I certainly more inclined to believe their statements now than I would have been a year ago, despite the occasional knee-jerk reaction to things that just don’t add up.
