Ex. I created an Acolyte named BowMage, and then found out that the community build was a Marksmen.
Probably my silliness, but still I don’t want to delete a fun Mage that ultimately decided to be his own old man.
The devs have said that the next version to include multiplayer is going to change the way naming is done (for obvious reasons with online saves) but how this will affect single player local saves we dont know for sure yet… no idea if renaming will be possible…
Dont feel alone in this, I have some stupidly named characters too…
Tywin Lannister… you are not the first (nor probably the last) to say this… I think the general consensus is that one of the designers is a GoT fan…
To prevent further mistakes with mixed up classes:
Certainly you mean the Mage looks like Tywin Lannister - Not the Acolyte. The Acolyte is the sinister creepy woman that summons minions and practices blood magic.
I’m confused. Unless they change the way that the Offline characters are stored on your PC, you can already do this by editing the file in a text editor…
For sake of completedness, just make sure you also change it in the associated slot’s _temp file as well.
I doubt they’ll change the “offline” characters being stored locally on your PC, otherwise it would no longer be “offline”, eh?
Editing game files is against the Terms of Service. It may also result in system instability, and file corruption leading to complete loss of save data. Last Epoch Legal Website
Changing a characters name is not currently supported, though it’s also something only you see. For in game chat, and with multiplayer parties: your account name, not character name is used. It’s possible that a feature to change character name could be introduced at some point with enough demand for the feature, though because the character name isn’t used anywhere we don’t currently feel it’s as high priority as if the character name was used to represent a player or was shown to other players.
I hope it does get added 'cause it’s annoying as #### to start a character with the intention of build X (& a name to match) only to find out that you end up doing build Y & the name is now inappropriate.
I’d also like to be able to add editable notes to the character that could be seen from the character selection screen, potentially as a replacement for renaming a character.
Just because the name isn’t widely displayed doesn’t mean it’s not important, you do see it every time you select the character to play & every time you open the character screen after all.
Yeah, sorry about that Kain. I was trying to be helpful but didn’t really think about my reply properly. or carefully enough…
Ofc I don’t advocate going against the TOS.
As a side note though, being able to change toon names using the game’s gui would be a welcome addition to the game. As Llama points out, we often start out a toon with one intent and name it accordingly, but then we change that intent and the name becomes irrelevant.
