When I have a + to a couple of my minions, it shows in the bottom right, for example, 3 points to spend for Mages and 1 point for Golem. If you go into skills and add the one point for Golem, the 3 points for Mage disappear. On logging out and back in, to see if my game saved due to the disastrous roll back last night, the 3 for mage was showing again and I was able to use them. Also the shattering runes aren’t showing usage, say for example you have 5 and use 5, it still shows that you have 5 in your forge.
