Not sure if bug or not

Heya. new player. just started 2 days ago or so. background: have played poe, a mate from there plays and so I joined.

  1. awesome, cool , nice game. Definitely worth the money. It isn’t rough, it’s already quite polished and will be a success no doubt as it matures. :slight_smile:

However, some feedback:

  • Is very forgiving; I got a bit sick of poe and feeling like a slave. It’s nice to epxlore and not getting penalties for now…
    BUT, I got to endgame, with same gear i just slapped on and it’s so easy.

However, I am wondering if this is a bug… I chose reroll for ‘harder mods’ and get levl 30/40 maps… :frowning: I also finally got l 62 again earlier, had to pop out. came back and just now the next echo was area lvl 1! that’s right… ONE.

it’s making me very confused and like “is that it?”

So, either I am hitting some weird bug lol or it needs to become a bit more solid and clear what is going on with the echoes.

Losing levels because I PAID to make them worse makes no sense :confused:

please, enlighten me… I want to progress and I want harder maps, I completed a run and chose 65 instead of 62… or 60, why then do i get 30… 40… 1 useless maps.

Anyway, apart from that, it’s a really nice game. I absolutely recognise that for now the game is pay once , enjoy and we can explore and it’s a WIP.

Have to say, it’s great and fantastic to see how it is already. I DID expect it to be way , way worse :stuck_out_tongue:

For reference, I happened to drop just as I needed it, a exgonimous whatever chest, AND mourningfrosts and erm the scavenger belt! omg, what a combo… awesome, with spellblade shattermania V!

But I feel there must be some resistance soon. I have died maybe 12-15 times, most of those were just a bit sloppy afking. of course, it might be I will hit a wall soon, but then I have to stop getting maps which are lvl 1… 31, 32, 41 half the time :confused:

Also, says sometimes when I am back, scaled 55, but I am 62, other times it ays (correctly?) scaled to my level… this all leaves me pretty confused indeed.

It’s not a big criticism or anything but there is something buggy going on I think and this needs more polish.

Anyone else getting this?

PS. ye, “your progress is aved” but nope, got a l 34 after the lvl 1… and befor elogging out I was getting 62/65 as I should sigh… this is quite discouraging, and going from a positive impression it kinda is making me think a bit wth. Is someone else getting this?

That kinda is a bug, but “only” a display bug. The level displayed is the level of the campaign map that the monolith zone is based on. If you hit Tab twice the displayed level will correct itself.

That’s also a hold over from when monolith zones were scaled to the player level, but they are fixed level.

Cheers, however, this does not seem to hold in terms of resistance of monsters nor the loot.
I did/do consider it a possibility but there is definitely a path of less resistance when it’s 30-40 levels (had ot do 4 maps before it was 63 again just now).

Mobs don’t have resists (or armour) unless specifically stated, such as the scorpions that have phys resist. Mobs do, however, get a % damage reduction based on the area level which is what you’re likely seeing.

Loot is also separate since the loot level is based on the ilvl of the base plus any affixes that it drops with (more affixes = higher lvl). So it’s entirely possible to get a lvl 1 base with very few affixes on them from a high level area. Yes, it’s annoying.

If you hit tab twice the area level on the minimap will correct itself.

Edit: And yes, it’s quite frustrating when the rune of removal removes the affix you wanted. :slight_smile:

Really? So why do we have armor shred, resistance penetration, and also shock reduces lightning resistance on mobs etc.

It’s so that if you reduce it’s resists by 40% the mob takes 40% more damage.

If a mob has 75% resist & you hit it with 100 damage it only takes 25 damage. If you shred that resist by 40% it would then have 35% resist so it would then take 65 damage. Therefore that 40% resist shred is actually 160% more (from 25 up to 65)!

It would look very odd if you apply the max resist shred stacks (a 40% reduction) & nearly triple your damage.

It also works the same way when they shred you, the devs want you to take 10% more damage if your resists are 10% below cap therefore the mobs get 1% resist penetration per area level up to lvl 75. So yes, you effectively have zero resists if you’re capped in a lvl 75 zone but the game is balanced around that. Shred is applied before your resists are capped at 75% then the area lvl penetration is applied so overcapping your resists is only of benefit to mitigate the effect of shred.

Armour shred is different since that has no cap, but can be stacked quite high. Armour shred reduces you/the mobs armour by 100 & if it goes negative (which it will for most mobs) you/they take more damage (the same formula is applied, so if you have x armour & get y% mitigation, -x armour will increase the damage you take by y%).

no llama8, no mattr how many tims i hit tab, the level didn’t change… actually. so it was beyond visual.

Ok I got it. so you mean most mobs have resistances / armor equal to 0% (they do have it as a stat). Just those stats do not have any value. otherwise we didin’t have anything to shred from or penetrate.

Yes, they have the stat but it’s zero in the vast majority of cases.

Ye llama. Again, I don’t think it’s placebo, as it definitely seems I just melt through the map and bosses way easier when it’s lower. I would have thought that despite ‘trash’ having 0 arm/resist, they also would have level adjusted life pools. Again, I can’t change level with any tab or stuff, it remains fixed, and ya. It made me kinda lose my mojo here.

But I am logged in again now and can see if I can try and get a better metric. In any case, it’s definitely bugs, visual or not, and I suppose I should rather just file it if it continues consistently in the bug section. Cheers.
