Its random, completely random. I have had insane combos of mobs before, a few times, and its a drag but thats beta end game right now.
Once you get to level 60ish, mobs wont matter as much any more, you won’t be getting 1-shot until you make it far into MoF and have a lot of modifiers on. Once you’re level 80+ and have close to end-game build gear you can go MoF 40-50+ with many builds.
One major tip I can offer is get used to crafting system. Make pieces of gear that fit your build and keep updating them when you can.

Usually you don’t see many siege golems
Siege golems are kinda ok now, but I still dislike the flamethrower skill as it has long range, wide cone, no ground indicator, high damage, fast animation, and fast skill travel speed.

I feel there needs to be a better tiering algorithm for which monsters appear and at which stage. OP monsters should be heavily weighed down in their likelihood of appearing in low monolith runs. Same for arena. Then as people scale up to higher monolith/arena waves, they can start appearing and/or in greater numbers. That would make more sense to me.
had siege golem map at mono 6. it wasnt nearly as dreadful as it was before the reduced how many show up but it was still enough for me to just open my map and click end of time. before that i also had a ice golem map (the ones that do that icicle rain) they were very tanky and fighting 3 of them at the same time… i toiled through it but wow. id rather see these kinds of things as map modifiers rather that just randomly show up.
