I bought LE end Dec because I had some time off work and like to try new games between Christmas and New Year.
Overall I am really enjoying the game, but it definitely needs polishing.
When you first start, combat doesn’t feel great. My husband previously refunded LE as he found it boring, but has bought it again to play with me and has got to mid 20s now.
A friend bought LE at the same time as me, but was getting a lot of visual bugs, so refunded and will wait until launch to reassess.
The level up and skill level up icons are not that noticeable to a new player. You are so busy looking at everything else that they somehow get missed.
You start getting shards way sooner than any crafting tutorial (if you can call it that). I initially was storing them in my storage. Had no idea they were the crafting matts that could be auto stored. I was expecting herbs and ore for that. Crafting needs to be introduced as soon as shards start dropping.
Once I did start crafting I kept leaving gear in the forge. I just expected it to auto go back into my inventory or equipped slot. I was questing along and suddenly saw I never had my weapon, but was doing damage. How that is possible was confusing.
The load times for changing zones, using your town portal or waypointing are too long. Sometimes I wonder why my portal had disappeared and I wasn’t changing zones. Start running around next thing boom teleported. Also sometimes you get random rooms that you get teleported into. Once it reset the map I was in, other times it didn’t. Run too close to a map teleport zone and you auto teleport and lose everything. Also maps resetting so quickly is not cool. You can’t even TP to town without losing loot. This part just feels awful.
Towns not staying uncovered is annoying. I don’t mind maps, having fog of war after first completion.
I enjoyed doing the campaign.and enjoyed the Runemaster combat. Crafting is fantastic, though I am finding it more limiting now that I am doing an endgame build. I have been following a Maxroll build guide. I did have to watch a beginners video on how to craft as it didn’t make sense at first.
I am now unlocking Monoliths and have hit a wall with Lagon. The campaign fight was easy enough, but the one shot mechanics and sudden increase in difficulty does not belong in a fight while still levelling and unlocking unempowered Monoliths. It is plain frustrating. You lose stability and have to go back and farm echos to try again and stay away from bad modifiers. Not too easy to keep trying and learning mechanics. I can understand if the difficulty was for a fully levelled endgame challenge, but it blocks levelling progress. I have left it for now and started the level 80 timeline, but if it gets to a point that it is progress blocking I will stop playing.
I have only tried one Arena and not done any dungeons yet, mostly because of the single attempt limit, so will wait until I am better geared for the endgame.
I am looking forward to seeing what changes are announced and come with the Launch. Will definitely be a game I play alongside some of the others I enjoy.
