We need mastery switching option

Yes, people want it, no, the devs don’t want to do it, the reasons why are in every single mother-loving thread about this. The mastery likely isn’t what you think it is (or at least, the devs’ view of it isn’t).
No we don’t.
I actually think we need to be able to use all the trees without picking one. Not the whole tree, but up to the mid-tree barrier.
But… What would that accomplish aside from maybe getting you one or two points ahead of the curve after unlocking your Mastery? (by this I mean not needing to hold onto passive points until you get your Mastery)
I can see maybe being a challenge run, but you lose out on a Mastery skill and bonuses as well as half of one tree with no benefits
It would allow you to play your character longer, accessing more skills before you need to pull the trigger on choosing a sub class. You could progress your character, advance in specific skill trees, and then decide on what you want to lock your character into much later in the game. I feel this would go along way to removing the need for mastery switching.
I mean… I guess?
I think a better option is one that’s been suggested a lot and that’s having a training area to try out the skills ahead of selecting your Mastery
Perhaps, but having to lock in so early in your character is just going to create the same issues, even if you try out your skills ahead of time. Nobody knows how they will play, or what skills they will like/ not like until much later in their progress.
Some people will know right away, and they can lock in ASAP. Others will take their time and will only need to lock in when they hit that wall and want access to further a specific subclass.
Trying skills in a vacuum is not really a good use of their time as you don’t get a feel for the skills/ interactions with other skills against training dummies.
How is that any different from picking a class in diablo 4 or any other diablo like game?
When it comes to classes in diablo likes. Thats how it is. Players just dont know hiw things will play till they actually with the build/skills
Heck even hades 1 and 2 do this. That game has weapon types and not classes. Even then players dont really know how they really play
This training dummie/s idea is a compromise. Lost ark does this if i remember correctly as well
Why? Masteries in last epoch are the classes in the game. U cant swap ur class in any diablo like game.
It also wouldnt be any different if u could just pick ur mastery at character creation.
