Hi! I got this game pretty recently and I’ve been having lots of fun with it. Just thought I’d give some feedback since it seems to be helpful. For context, my highest char is a level 78 cold ranged minions Acolyte, and I have a potato laptop so I’m getting ~10-15 fps on 800x600 resolution XD.
One problem that I’m getting with my low-res setup is that skill trees are designed for a widescreen resolution. Instead of resizing skill trees, they’re getting cut off and I have to adjust my resolution to invest skill points on the far-left and far-right sides of the trees.
I thought the campaign was OK (maybe a bit too long), but I really enjoy the Monolith system. I like how quick each run is so I can always hop in and get a couple runs in even with a low time commitment. I think the time it takes to get quests could be shortened a bit, but it’s not a big deal.
I’m not a huge fan of the Arena right now. I only tried it once, but it ramps up too slowly and the reward for low runs (<100) at my current low level is too small. I’d love to see it ramp up more quickly and have big rewards when higher levels are reached, maybe even have it time-locked somehow?
It’s been said many times but my biggest concern is the lack of an end-game goal to shoot for. It’ll probably be much better in a few patches. It’d be neat to see something like Watcher’s Eye which is both very random but adds significant power to random builds and encourages trying out new builds. Maybe it could be on a ring, or maybe being able to socket something in your passive tree would be neat. Obviously it should be much less than what POE has, but even one slot per mastery tree with a ~20-point prerequisite could add a lot of diversity, and the added complexity can be managed if the socketed passive abilities are more limited. Having a farmable chase item on a hard end-game boss would also give people a reason to improve their characters.
I really enjoy the crafting system. I like how it encourages me to pay attention to drops and how it lets me incrementally improve my gear.
I’m also liking the skills system and passives overall. I like how there’s a cost to respeccing so I don’t do it often, but I can try out different skill combos.
One thing I miss from other ARPGs is the idea of low-investment skills like some Necromancer curses in D2. I liked how you could choose whether to really invest in a skill to make it very powerful or invest little into it and just use it for the occasional utility. This obviously requires a lot of design to get right and might not fit in LE, but I wonder if having a 6th skill slot but keeping the limit of 5 specialized skills could be an option.
A really minor thing is the Rip Blood skill node that only helps with minion targeting. Seems like a QOL skill node that only saves an “A” keypress shouldn’t be a thing, but that’s low priority and I know skill trees are WIP!
Overall, I’m enjoying this game. It’s already fun and I’m sure it’ll only get better in the future. Hope this helps!
