First off, I really love Last Epoch. You have made so many good decisions when developing this game. That said I want to give constructive feedback and my opinions on some of the things that, to me, could be better.
Mages and Experimental gear:
These items find no way to compete with other options for the same gear slot for any of my builds anymore. I click mages when I have prophecies or early for experience. I have since long stopped even hovering over the items dropped. In my opinion for them to have a place again, rune of research needs to be brought back or they have to be altered in some other way. I dont personally know why Rune of Research was removed from the game, but my guess is that the items was a bit too over powered. If that was the case I dont think they are anymore. Experimental items have been indirectly nerfed by introducing set affixes. These have to compete now. If rune of research still seems to OP then nerf the rune a bit. An idea could be to remove the possibility to deterministically choose a Tier for the researched affix (using calculators and such), just make it random maybe.
Blessings:
Please give us the opportunity/possibility to alter our chances for specific blessings. Iām not saying we should be able to pick what we want. Iām not saying that it should be unlocked when you reach echoes first off. It can for me be hidden behind hard content. But playing a lvl 100 HC character at 300+ corruption killing the same timeline boss 20 consecutive times without even unlocking your preferred blessing is just utterly annoying for me. It can actually be a trigger for me to end the season.
Timeline corruption bonus:
This system is just awesome in the beginning when you want to follow and complete the Forgotten Knight faction quests. I would love to see that you keep the bonus more static though. I found a really annoying thing with it. I will give an example to best explain. If you have your next harbinger quest kill at 250 corruption and you hover over a Shade of Orobyss node and do the math and see that you would get for example 246 by completing it. If you then kill the boss one more time to get a Gaze of Orrybus the bonus amount changes, so adding the 12 corruption from your Gaze now might only take you to 249 corruption (should be 258 in my opinion). This leaves you completing another 10 echoes, Orobyss again and the boss again to achieve the quest. Just annoying.
Timeline stability meter in echoes:
I sometimes fill the meter in echoes to make sure I hit a certain break point, to be able to do the boss for example. This is fine and all and I like the meter as such. I dont think season content and mechanics should sum up with the stability though. In this season you have to enter the tombs and kill all monsters to make sure you fully fill the stability meter. I dont mind this as of now (in this season) as I like the season content, BUT I honestly just think its bad practice to āforceā people to do the season mechanics.
This is my take on the above topics, which doesnāt mean they are right for everyone.
That was not Rune of Research. RoR sealed experimental affixes (with 100% chance).
Were you thinking of Glyphs of Insight? If your whole point was about these, then there is a woven echo that replaced them, letting you choose which affix you get, rather than having to use a calculator.
Itās no longer possible to seal experimental affixes, sadly.
I think this could be solved by them adding a weight to undiscovered blessings and favouring them until you find them all.
It has always been much more efficient to rush the objective and move on to the next echo than to stay around and clear them for extra stability. This season didnāt change anything in this regard.
You might want to go do tombs for the extra loot, but sticking around in an echo just for the bonus stability was always a bad strategy and overall wasted time, since you filled it faster by rushing objectives. And by doing more echoes in the same timeframe, you also got more rewards.
Yea, i mixed thing up here. Still I think Rune of research can be brought back as it would now compete with set affixes as well as standard affixes.
True. Still there is a meter, put there for a reason. And if you want to meet that reason you need to do season mechanics.
So my opinion still stands, dont do something that makes the player feel that they are forced to do season mechanics, for whatever the mentioned reason is.
Yes, mages have become utter nonsense outside of the woven echo where you can actively put a experimental Affix onto an item. Theyāre completely useless otherwise.
Plainly spoken what EHG should do is raising the roll-range related to already owned roll-range. So if you got a blessing which has⦠50-75 value of something and you own 70, then it should not be more then a 50% chance to be below that, allowing gradual progression rather then pure RNG to achieve top-rolls over time.
Agreed as well, any content beyond ābaselineā shouldnāt affect stability. Stability is a core mechanic, auxiliary mechanics should stay in their lane and not interfere with that.
Plainly spoken I donāt understand why the Glyph was removed. Rune of Research is obvious, too strong, guaranteed 5th Affix is just OP no hands down.
But the Glyph? Itās a single RNG roll to add a experimental Affix on it, EHG couldāve done it via allowing you to pick even and respectively making it extremely rare⦠the extra ācontentā there from the Woven Echo is just unfitting, itās bloat. You wanna keep your mechanics generally streamlined to sustain themselves properly for the future.
Imagine if EHG provides as many venues for changing gear or gathering specific types of gear along the way, in 3-4 Cycles itāll simply be overwhelming, a chaotic mess and heavily inducing choice paralysis.
It did! It made it even worse
You should be rewarded for staying around rather then blindly rushing in my eyes. You can do it but you donāt have to, hence simply giving a bonus. The timeline bonus is utterly inadequate for that currently and weaver content makes it solely worse then it already is.
