Yo - just want to leave some feedback about things I personally dislike about Last Epoch. In general I have to admit - the game is great and fun! Good Job. But there are really some things I really can’t enjoy.
I played the 1.0+ Version for about 250h - not much but enough to see most of the game mechanics. Let’s start.
Monolith
Monolith in general are really fun. The different rewards and the rerolling of nodes and whole echos brings some strategy and the kinda target farming of items is somewhat useful. In the most time the depths of monoliths don’t matter as your only goal is to push corruption which is way too time consuming and boring. If you have a character which overperforms on 100 corruption you are pretty fast bored and probably quit/reroll before you reach a level of corruption that is somewhat challenging and interesting. And if you reroll you start over and can’t take progress you already invested your time in to a different character. The Idea of “Corruption” is great. But the “not account wide progressing” paired with somewhat hugh time investment isn’t respecting my time for me personally. I would wish for a system that pushes corruption faster / based on your character performance and can easily be switched once you reach a certain milestone. Like with a dropdown box for every 100 corruption or something. All this as an account wide progression system. This won’t be as immersiv as the current system but way more enjoyable.
Echos
Echos should have an incentiv to grind the mobs inside. Once you reach a certain level of corruption there is an incentiv naturally. But - as said - this is very time consuming and boring. Echos in general lack a lot of mob density. It’s fun in an ARPG to slaughter hordes of mobs - mostly echos barly have packs of mobs and can’t even be described as “dense.”
Dungeons
Dungeon Layout is … weird. The Temporal Sanctum design Idea is neat - but the actual dungeon is the most annoying piece of dungeon I’ve played for a long time. The backtracking because of the visible/hidden walls grind my gears. It’s horrible.
Dungeons in general, especially transition doors, are often annoying to find. I would prefer a less maze like layout with a somewhat clear Idea of where to find an exit.
Guilds
While I didn’t test Merchant Guild this is only about Circle of Fortune.
In my honest opinion the reputation grind is too time consuming. While EXP increases with corruption, reputation also gains equal increases (afaik) but the corruption grind is - as said - also too time consuming. I almost had to level 3 Chars to Lv. 100 before hitting T10 in CoF. Hitting T10 in CoF in time with hitting Lv. 100 with the first Char should seem somewhat “fair” in terms of “respecting my time”. Favor gain is fine.
No TLDR. As said - the game is great. But these are the biggest flaws for me. It’s just an opinion - you can disagree, that’s completly okay. But this is what I personally really don’t like about the game.
Have a great time!
