Swap the weapon for Undisputed, don’t equip Maehlin’s Hubris.
Hey there! You’ve found a very cool thing there and might i say even an exploit
I’ve spent days balancing my Double Slash Rive pure melee with a 2-hander, and it was pretty good for melee in this game, decent clear speed with a potential to push 200 arena with good gear. But now i’ve tried your idea, swapped Devouring Orb for Sigils, took 100% ignite chance from Paladin passive and ignite chance suffix for Titan Blade and it’s like a whole new level of dps - up to 150k dummy crits. And it’s just a test with the items i had, not nearly optimised.
Honestly, it seems there is basically no reason to go for anything else if you want high dps melee. The reason is this game has very limited ways to stack % dmg increase, and most of them are pretty expensive. Execution alone easily multiplies the outcome any other route can afford.
Question: how important is shield for your build? I think taking a two-hander with a large phys flat base (+prefix) and ignite chance suffix will give you gamebreaking dps here.
The build is really versatile. Basically you can use it with anything that has a good amount of physical damage (items or skills).
I am using shield for survivability, running with 80% block chance is really helpful. In terms of pure damage, 2h weapon will always have the upper hand. You are using a sword to get passive node for attack speed I guess?
Yeah, for the passive and Titan Blade has high base phys dmg and base attack speed.
There is indeed a lot of combos you can use around Execution to balance out your dmg and QoL. And i hope the Execution will not get hammered into the ground but rather other melee options will be buffed closer to the release to be able to compete with Execution dmg stacking. Because this game is really unfriendly to melee, you are exposed to so much more danger than other archetypes and you are not even rewarded with superior dps for it.
I’m working on my second char, Forge Guard, to see what dps i can achieve with it. I’ve finished my Void Knight basically, only leveling is left, and i can already see that its phys+void melee hybridization can’t come close to the Forge Guard pure phys.
It wouldn’t if you’re getting thousands of % increased phys damage. The main benefit you’d likely be getting is the up to 40% chance to echo Rive and up to 50% crit multi you can get for 1 point.
could you make a video with your updated build? or maybe post screenshot of your passives, skills and items?
Please, update the build.
was this build touched since it was uploaded? still viable? would be great to know.
I’m currently running it. Its quite nice, even when deviating from this spec a bit, it still works just fine. Good wiggle room for personal touches.
Did you see this from the new patch preview notes?
The totems will still proc it but sadly we will never get a tree for manifest weapon.
Or maybe they’ll give us something even more awesome-er (like they did with Mark for Death/Bone Curse).
is there an update somewhere how you spend your last passives/skillpoints? the video stops at you being lvl 62
i’m following that video build, my Eye of Reen is not as good rolled as yours, also my other gear is worse (no +phys damage, no 100% ignite chance) and it feels a little slow damage wise… but there were not patch changes making the build worse, were they?
i mean it’s fun, but also a little slow it feels… thanks for the effort here though!
Hi Banana, could you give us some more details on your version here? Would be highly apriciated
THX
Since the new patch, the build is almost twice as good! Since we don’t have a problem with resists now you can run your armor/helmet with 20+ physical damage and also Shred Effectiveness.
Maybe this is one of the best build to apply tons of armor shred per second. Getting over 150 stack of armor shreds is easy.
I strongly recommend playing with 2h sword because of the new FG 2h passive for extra 40% attack speed. Runningn around with 200%+ attack speed is pretty cool.
You can easily get over 3k% increase physical damage on single target w/o the belt for Ignite chance.
Shred is capped at 20 stacks, though that would mean that you’d hit the cap quickly. But yeah, very high attack speed is very nice.
As far I know only the specific type of shred as Lightning, Physical, Fire etc is capped to 20 stacks. The Armor shred does not have cap but has huge diminishing returns.
For example 20 x Armor shred = 30% more dmg, 150 x Armor shred = 60% more damage.
That’s not what the patch nodes say though.
Protection Shred ailments have been changed to equivalent Resistance Shred ailments which reduce the respective resistance by 5% against most enemies and 2% against bosses and players. Armour Shred works the same way. Shred ailments now have a maximum of 20 stacks.
I read that to mean that the armour shred has a cap of 20 stacks since armour shred is as much of an ailment as the resist shreds.
Shred ailments
Yes, it works the same way as Ailment Shed in term of mechanics. As you can see they state that only Shred Ailments have 20 stack cap but nothing for armor shred.
But Armor Shed and Ailment Shred are different.
I know I’m being pedantic (as usual), but there are no ailment shreds, all shreds (as far as I’m aware) are ailments. There are resist shreds & armour shred (no ailment shreds), they function in the same manner & (I believe) have the same cap.
@Sarno or @EHG_Mike is there a difference between armour shred & resist shred?
