Hello, been quite sometime now that I play Last Epoch.
I was a big critic of this game, and EHG in its whole. Because of very bad communication with its player base, and some really questionable design choices.
But since season 4 came out I have to admit that many efforts were done.
Still, the game needs, in my opinion, some key imrovements.
- Graphics. I don’t know if with the engine that is being used, if LE can have AAA graphics but it’s really one of the biggest issues for me with this game. It’s not pixel of course, it’s not that dramatic, but as soon as you open the game, you notice in an instant that the graphics are in a medium state. Shadows, lighting, edges, even the UI in many parts looks like it was done in a hurry. I mean, just to give an example, look at the UI of Diablo 4, no matter if you like the game or not, the UI is so polished, so well put together, PoE2 as well, it has one of the bests UI any ARPG combined. In LE I feel most of the time that the UI is disconnected from the rest of the game, it’s like “oh there is the inventory, …okay”. You don’t miss the elements. Don’t know how to put that correctly so the devs understand my feedback, the UI is just not there, the buff icons in circles, just above the skillbars, ugh, ugly, you have plenty of space for that. The menus, the colors, the textures in the inventory, looks like 90’s, to me at least.
So yeah the UI in my opinion needs a major overhaul, the skillbar with the chains, I mean it’s like it’s floating above the game, not connected at all to it.
Also the loot on the ground, it feels like its floating in the air, not at all in the ground, just walk and see the minimap when you pass over dropped items, you see them above the minimap.
Also needs a lot of performance improvements. My computer is quite powerful, exceeding by far that recommended requirements, and still, huge drops in FPS in many random ocasions. This is erally an issue that needs to be adressed ASAP.

Combat feel, well, I’ve read about the vfx, sound etc changes to make the combat feel more impactful, and some things are done yeah, but still its not rejuicing, I don’t feel like I have accomplished something, take example of Diablo 3, how enemies react, how you get rewarded for slashing many foes, and depending how many or how fast, you get a nice splash message “Massacre”, just like dota good times and rewarded on top of it, speed increase, armor increase etc. And doodads, or if you prefer breakable objects in game. You have few of them like some woods? Does’nt even feel like they have a purpose, again like with foes, just reward the player x amount of breakable objects destroyed = passive temporary buff. Overall yeah, the combat needs to be more impactful, after all we hack and slash baby, that’s the very purpose of an ARPG.

Campaign, I can’t really say anything about it since I’m a casual player and mostly care about killing things in game, so the dialogs of npc(need really newer models for all of them). So the story, for me, is not a concern, sure it is for others and I respect that.

Endgame. Well the tombs, cemeteries, Echoes, etc are all well and nice, but still the endgame is quickly becoming boring, I don’t know, for example in D3 you do rifts, but the continuity of map changing and enemy variety is just there, you instantly feel progression. It’s just not there in LE, I feel like "Oh another echo chain, another boring do this and that. Well the description of goals in the right panel could use some love, its there yeah, but empty background, hardly see what’s written, a nice panel over there would make it more polished.
Or some goals as well, were you recharge a beacon, the percentage of recharging is shown over there rather than in front of the object.
And goals in Echoes need to evolve as well. Open x prisons to lure an ambush, what ambush? I hope you get my point. Echoes need a twist, something unexpected to spice things up. Anyway, yeah endgame needs a lot of work.
- Character customization (skills, masteries, mtx). Well here we are not for a treat. Old models used in character creation, no options to change skin colors, hair etc, not so biggie but 2026 is here, time to consider that fact. For skills we need something like constellations in Grim Dawn, or a Tree of infinite progression like Striving for Light(Awesome game btw). MTX, well now this is something that is unacceptable for me at least. Overpriced mtx, not well done at all, ugly in most of the cases. How you expect someone to pay for that? Look at mtx of D4 or PoE2, I mean c’mon, I’m sure you can do better!
That’s my take, for now. We are thousands of players, everyone has different taste for sure, but for my part I believe these points if seriously taken by the team, will make the game more immersive.
I hope and wish the game gets even better and great, as it has huge potential.
