MP and Mod Support

With multiplayer on the horizon, what is the possibility of mod support also being implemented? I would love to have a DPS meter when me and my friends play.

From memory, @sarno said that modding isn’t allowed before multiplayer goes live but afterwards when they’ve implemented offline modding would be allowed (for offline only, obviously).

Here’s an answer to that question from the Reddit AMA some days ago: No plans to allow modding, currently.

So there is no hope for a damage meter in a multiplayer game?

I doubt there will eb a damage meter.

EEven when mod support eventually will make it in.

DPS Meter will lead to toxicity in online play.

No it doesn’t. I leads to you knowing how strong or weak your build is and whether you are carrying or being carried.

I know that the information how much dmg you are actually doing is releveant, but it still does promote toxicity.

I would almost call that a fact from extensive experience in online games^^

EDIT: The best implementation of this IMO would be several different trainings dummies with different hp pools.

A small, medium and big dummy.

Then you can measure the TTK (Time to kill)

This method was used by Marvel Heroes and is still my favorite one.
You can’t actively measure dps while fighting mobs, but you can still try out things for your self in the training area.

Not unless the devs put one in.

It doesn’t always lead to toxicity, I didn’t see any in SWTOR. It certainly can lead to toxicity but it’s not a given. The community is a good one so far.

I think we will have to agree to disagree my friend.

Perhaps have both, then we can chose which we prefer. I want to know where my damage is as it relates to my friends. Target dummies just don’t do that.

I’m a bit conservative on things like DPS meter.

In Outriders people are aware of damage dealt during a mission. And people got kicked out of the party right before they could pickup their loot because the other decided he was just carried.

DPS meter just fuels effectiveness meta that leads to people being rated solely on their damage output.

Sometimes people need to be carried. The poor beginner that got carried several times and caused some wipes may be the carry of tomorrow, helping other people or conquering the ladder. But only if he not got bashed for his previous weakness.

Some things should stay hidden.

I already can see the chat messages “Group lfp, min DPS 100k”

But if there’s no content that requires a party that should hopefully lessen the drive for an effectiveness meta.

Interesting analogy, and how do you think that person getting carried ever gets better at his class if he can’t see his overall dmg?

You don’t need to see you exact damage to improve.
Getting experience and getting more knwoledge will make you a better player over time.

Just to make it clear. I don’t wanna say it doesn’t matter at all, but i only think that it should be something a player for themselves can see and imrpove teir build.

But just keep away anyform of comparison between different players.

this is meh…

How do you think people played games back in the days before there was dps comparison?

There was also a time in LE when there was no DPS tooltip. :scream::scream:

And people somehow managed to find out the best builds and skill interactions.

I can see benefits of a DPS meter, then I can be absolutely sure to never party with a Shaman.

There is nothing worse than dummy humping, MMO’s used & use them, and its pointless, they dont hit back & dont have any of the buffs that an enemy in the game would have.

DPS meters can create a toxic enviroment, i agree, but also can be used for improving your build, better than dummy humping can.

When another player is critiquing your DPS, whether on a dummy humping session or via DPS meter, the same toxicity would be there, if thats how they are as people, then its simple, just ignore and block themm.
