I recently returned to LE after a break and decided to start up a melee character (Primalist/Swipe). I also turned on the move to melee attack option because I’m used to it from other games.
This option really feels broken as it stands. There are three reasons.
- First, there are many mobs missing hitboxes (bug reported), and move to attack just does not work if you are right-clicking to attack these foes.
- Second, if you are right-clicking to attack on the ground, you just attack from wherever you are without moving. This is really at odds with other implementations, which generally move you to the target location, and then attack.
- Third, if you right-click and hold, you do the action above, and then nothing. The usual implementation for this is right-clicking and hold will move you to your pointer and then attack. If you are right-clicking and holding and keeping your mouse at a consistent distance from your character, you move. LE’s implementation is so different that it just feels wrong.
Just to make sure I was not imagining things, I went back to PoE to test this out and the difference is pretty obvious. In short, the LE implementation will likely feel broken for anyone coming from other ARPGs.
