The keyboard “Move” when bound to anything else than “left-click”, does the following (whether held down or click):
moves character (expected)
opens the map when clicking on a way point (unexpected, super annoying, prefer left-click)
opens chest (unexpected, prefer left-click)
opens dialog with NPC (unexpected, prefer left-click)
enters new areas (unexpected, prefer left-click)
enters town portals (unexpected, prefer left-click)
On the other hand, the “left-click” is still in fact needed even if unbound to:
pick up items from the floor
select NPC dialog options
etc
With controller, this gets weirder: “moves” is bound to an axis and only moves the character, which is great and ensures that actions 2-6 in the first list are done with the same button as the second list. Thus controller scheme > keyboard scheme for movement.
Proposal
1/ Create a new “Action” binding that is bound by default to “left-click” and “action” button on the controller and does:
moves to cursor when clicking on floor (optionally: if “move” is not bound)
opens the map when clicking on a way point
opens chest
opens dialog with NPC
enters new areas
enters town portals
pick up items from the floor
select NPC dialog options
etc
2/ Rename “Move” to “Move to cursor” and bind it to “Null” for keyboard or controller by default which only does:
I’m sure some are aware. I’m assuming they use votes/popularity to prioritize, however? Since the thread was closed and you can’t vote on it, I figured I’ll open a new one, see if it gets votes. But yeah, that’s the one and only post I’ll put up about it.
Normally I would assume the same, but with everything going on to get the game versions unified (single & mp tracks) and getting MP done enough to not mess up its launch later in the year, I doubt very much that forum votes play much of a role right now.
As Llama8 mentioned, they definitely have the issues on their internal tracker - even the REALLY old ones that havent been solved yet - but we are not privvy to their prioritisation process. Mike W and others at EHG have confirmed this many times over the last months/years so we just have to take their word for it…
The thing is that it’s the “left klick” functionality that you can remap here. It’s not only the “move” function, but also the rest, like activating things.
That’s precisely the problem. I want to rebind “move”, not the left-click functionality. On any other ARPGs, players rebind “Move” precisely to:
free the left-click for some other actions when rebinding is available,
ensure you don’t accidentally click on anything by mistake while moving,
ensure that you don’t aggravate repetitive strain injury (RSI) or “trigger finger” by separating the move actions from other repeated left-clicking actions
