More unique items

yes would love more for a more diverse building options and even unique totems would be amazing!

Unique items are included in literally every single major patch and even some more in smaller patches.
It’s just a matter of time, so the total pool of uniques increases steadily.

I am not so sure about unique Idols (i am guessing you were refering to Idols, when speaking about totems).
Unique Idols needed to be very special with some major downsides if they are included, since idols essenmtially doing similar stuff, uniques items already doing.

Im very against powerful things needing to have a downside because there powerful.

Unique idols (if ever implemented) should just plain be unique and not justa higher stat range on already implemented affixes.

I.E. a unique idol could give global effects that are not obtainable on any ohter idols or gear affixes. Effects such as:

  • 10% chance when you take a hit that would leave you dead to instead be returned to full health and invincible for 2 seconds. 30 second CD

  • Gain 100% increased effect from stats on your (insert gear slot here)

  • Remove cooldown from all skills with cooldowns triple there mana cost

theres really no limit to what could be added, but if unique idols come. they better be unique.

Not necessarily every uniqe should have that, but i really liketrade-off in return for a very powerfull effect, it really feels like you “specialize” in something, but getting downsides in other areas.

My main point was just: Idols already have quiet build defining effects and it’s really hard to come up with even more unqiue effects that would make them “unique”.

All of your suggestions are really great, but except the cooldown/mana cost thing, they are relatively generic and not class-specific.
And i feel like idols should go more into the class-specific realm as they already are for the most part.

Don’t get me wrong i think there is definitely potential, all i wanted to say is, maybe more normal gear slot uniques for a greater variety would be better and easier for the time being.
And then maybe later down the line we can have such thing, as unique idols.

But i really have high hoeps for future unqiues in generall. All of the recent unqiues introduced in 0.8 are all very cool and unique, very specific but build defining, just how they should be.

I am also looking forward to maybe some overhauls of the older uniques.

I agree here but want to add its a double edged sword.
Very specific build defining uniques are great, but we need generic ones added as well.
If every unique is specific you no longer are really allowed to use your imagination and your forced into this is meant for this and only this situation.

Generic uniques like soulfire for example are awesome because they can be build defining but are not specific to just 1 build. You can use it across multiple classes and masteries which allows for alot more creativity.

At the end of the day do you want to feel like you followed the instructions and made a build or do you want to feel like you created something on your own?

Right now there seems to be a good balance of them, just need more to be added over time.

Agreed, by “specific” i didn’t necessarily meant “class-specific”.

“Generic-Specific” if you want to say so. But a single unique items should only be for ony type of “base build”. Your example of Soulfire was really good. It’s essentially for Ignite Builds, but not class-specific, so yeah it’s a really cool unique, which cna be used on a plethora of builds.

While those uniques should definitely exist to a vertain degree, i personally don’t think they are really exciting, since they barely offer “unique” stats. Soulfire comes very close to a “stat-stick” item, which i dislike for uniques.

There should be a healthy mix of different unique items, but there can be defintiely some non class-specific ones, that have rquirement like " if you use a [tag] skill you do X".
Those kind of uniqeus can have unique effects, while still be able to be used ony multiple classes with different skills.

But the skill specific uniques for example are one of the most exciting IMO. And if they are specific enough, they even are not a 100% pick for every build that uses that skill.
But then we could potentially get multiple uniques that have skill-specific effects for the same skill for the future.

Would be cool to have damage conversion uniques. Like “converts all necrotic damage into cold/fire/whatever”.

Same with defensive stats.
“Convert chill into freeze rate” or “physical res into armor”. Maybe also not at 100%, but maybe 50:50 / 80:20.
