More options to tune down graphics?

I don’t know how “easy” it would be to do, but would it be possible to get some graphics options about how many particles to render, even lower-quality models and textures, and even entirely turn off some settings that are purely cosmetic and does not affect gameplay (e.g. lighting?) While getting LE to not play at 5fps with stuttering recently, I found that the maps and environments that cause the most problems are places with a lot of environmental effects (e.g. places on fire or snowing heavily), places with something global going on (e.g. spire echos), and fights against more than a few mobs that produce a lot of visual effects. On the other hand, I found that lowering my resolution drastically (currently on 1024x768) stabilises my frame rate dramatically.

PS I am using a relatively shitty computer not optimised for gaming, so I did expect some latency when playing games, but it would be super helpful if more settings are available to help such computers redirect processing resources to the core parts that keep the game moving rather than purely cosmetic elements.

At some point you can’t get new games without upgrading your PC, that’s just the way it is. The game has minimum requirements like all games do.

Pretty sure it’s more CPU bound than GPU that is causing the issues.

Lowering the graphics settings doesn’t nothing for my 3080 to gain extra FPS really. It’s probably just find to track down a better CPU/PC.

imho, from helping out in the Tech/bug section, there is definitely room for more granular control over graphics features - I feel that there is a big discrepancy between quality tiers that doesnt seem to be linear e.g. going from Medium/High makes a big difference in performance/stability on lesser systems with imho not that much visual quality difference at 1080p.

As you point out, there is a noticeable difference in certain maps where additional effects are used etc… but this could be just a question of optimisation of those locations… and how the devs are implementing these features - i.e. can they be controlled by settings or are they something more entwined into the code and hard to scale…

Based on my looking into the Unity game engine player settings etc, I am not sure how much or how easy adding finer control to the graphics will be… I think the devs are going to be heavily restricted by what the game engine allows and, to some extent, how they are working around this already…

And yes… sometimes you have to upgrade the potato… there is just no getting around that…
