I posted about this back in early access, but given the new influx of people I am making an expanded idea of the original post to get some more thoughts on it.
I would love to see more options for combat numbers. Specifically floating numbers, like we are currently able to toggle for damage. These would of course be individual, just like the current setting for Damage Numbers, and those who do not wish to use it can simply ignore the setting. It would however be an incredible Quality of Life feature to have, and the game already has a system to base it on, as it would just be a slightly modified version of Damage Numbers.
Here are some of the options I would love to see in the game regarding Floating Numbers:
Healing Numbers
It can often be very difficult to see if you are actually healing, and for how much while in combat. As someone who uses Health on Hit and Damage Leech a ton, it would be so awesome and also satisfying to be able to see how much I actually heal. It would also then give more clarification on what actually heals you.
If you are playing multiplayer, it will also make it a lot more enjoyable to be playing a support type paladin if you are able to see those juicy healing numbers on your teammates.
Additionally, this would also give you some insight in how much healing your minions are actually doing as X% damage leeching is quite difficult to calculate given the lack of accurate FPS information.
I am not wanting to ādumb the game downā, but it does make me scratch my head when it comes to how many base values are hidden in the game, such as minion base stats. We are only shown the percentages that modify the base value, so we have to use Last Epoch Tools to find the information.
Experience Numbers
This is purely my own opinion, but I quite like seeing those small floating numbers showing how much Experience you gain whenever an enemy dies. It would help a lot when determining if a certain enemy type of group of enemies is āworth the timeā or if you should just run straight to the boss.
I know that this might not be something a lot of people want, but again, it would be a single setting as a Quality of Life feature for those who want that kind of thing.
Floating Numbers Costumization
Last Epoch has an amazing Item Filter system, with anything from simply showing/hiding items, but also recoloring items so they stand out more.
It would be amazing if we were able to colorize Damage Numbers, so we could see what sources did what damage. Changing the color of damage types like making elemental damages a certain color.
Being able to assign different colors to things like physical damage, magic damage, bleed and ignite damage, etc.
Maybe even something like assigning a color to certain skills? Iām just spitballing.
The examples are of course just examples of what I would enjoy having the option of, but an expanded version of the current single setting option for combat numbers is essentially all I am suggesting.
What are your thoughts on it? If you were able to decide, what would the system look like or contain?
