Monolith Share and Respec feedback

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved this game so far. I think it has amazing bones and could grow the be the top dog in the ARPG world. Just wanted to get these off my chest and didn’t see any threads on the first page, though I’m sure there has been many regarding the topic.

There’s nothing more I hate in an ARPG than leveling another toon, but I understand it’s a necessary evil. What I can’t wrap my head around is the decision to leave monolith progress unshared. I’ll bite the bullet and reroll a new character after weeks of grind if I’m not enjoying the old character anymore, but there is no way I would ever bring myself to redo monolith corruption building. This especially hits home with the current Respec system where you can’t even change your subclass (not a great decision imo).

Simply adding a corruption slider to choose how much corruption to run a monolith at and the ability to change your blessings to ones you’ve chosen in the past for 10k gold or something would instantly solve it. switch characters? drop 50k gold on switching a couple blessings and move on. leveled up your new character? slide the corruption bar down a bit until you can handle higher corruption. If the above is implemented, it’s not so bad you can’t respect your subclass, tho I still think you should be able to. Could even leave the blessings out of it because fine, make me spend a couple hours chasing the right blessing. but farming corruption? that’s not a couple hour process.

Respect for player time is a big theme these days in development and these features would go a long way to that. It should take under 10-15 hours to make an alt to a reasonable mid-endgame level, not up to hundreds depending how much corruption grinding one has done.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk. You guys have made an amazing game and can’t wait to see how it evolves over time.

It’s left unshared so you don’t walk into a 1500+ corruption monolith with your secondary toon as well as a 60 corruption starting setup with the non-empowered ones.

Take it as a part of progression simply. The alternative for sharing would be massively worse.
Albeit if there’s a share-system for progress without the blessings and the corruption then I would say it’s utterly fine and definitely wished for.

The corruption slider would solve your entire complaint.

A slider could be an option.
But well, I imagine a boatload of content which is planned couldn’t make it into 1.0, this might just be one of those things.

But plainly spoken… it’s 1.0. The game offers plenty for that and going forward we’ll see which direction EHG is taking it. 1.1 will be an end-game update anyway so it might just be something in there to provide a harsh experience which is hard to do.

For now bugfixes and missing QoL are probably - and hopefully - their main priority. Bringing in any sort of mode which is more punishing along the line when there’s time is definitely something good… but shouldn’t be prioritized for now until the other stuff’s gone and done.

I imagine the choice to remove Masochist mode for 1.0 was since they had no idea how many people will actually enter their game at release, keeping the community together so the market can build itself up and it leaves less venues for errors creeping up. I imagine it’ll come back before long in some form other then the boots.

Right now I could walk into every 100 corruption empowered monolith and do it on my lvl 60 alt. Regrinding Monolith is a slog and I think as soon as you unlocked them once you should be able to unlock them instantly on every new toon without the unlock quest just by porting up to the middle isle and presing the glowing thingy. Problem solved ^^.

Yeah, but that’s not the case for every ‘average joe’ player, quite the contrary. Making a second character would be frustrating for them with a simple unlock.

But with a choice of how much corruption there is + the unlock I would say it’s a good solution.

That’s the base level of unlock and average andy can choose to run normal monoliths if the standard 100 corruption is to much for him. This is just an option to use noone needs to take if they don’t want to.

1.0 or not, this is the feedback and suggestions forum. not the bug report forum. I’m not saying it needs to be done now, but it definitely needs to be done at some point for the long term viability of the game for myself. i worked at a studio for 7 years so I’m well aware the upcoming couple months will be nothing but work for bugfixes and stability. I just felt there wasn’t enough push for this particular issue to be solved at all, much less in 6 months to a year.
