So if I make the wrong choice after the first one (Fall of the Outcasts) I am locked out of doing the right side of these that have actual boosts my character can use? I honestly can’t believe that’s a thing here.
That is not a thing.
You just need to re-do the Fall of the Outcasts Timeline.
You can complete any given timeline as many times as you want and you can choose a different Paths then.
Thanks for the reply. Would have been really nice to know this when I completed the first one don’t you think? There seriously needs to be more in the dialogues when you make these choices.
How would the game know which path was more important to you? Fall of the Outcasts is the shortest of all 10 Monoliths and it’s intended to be repeated twice if you want to unlock all 10. While most would prefer to travel to Black Sun and its progeny if forced to choose, if someone creates a farming character and doesn’t intend to run Empowered or top tier content, then the left side would be better for those characters.
In sum, every character should run it twice and the game should not have to intuit your preferences. If you want to research in advance what the different paths provide, that’s your ability and right. But, short of having a multipage Codex that drops from Abomination’s corpse, I’m not sure how the game could make it more clear what the consequences are for choosing one path over the other AND you intending to never repeat Fall of the Outcasts (at which point the choice becomes moot).
It should tell me if I choose the level 60 one I can’t go to the level 65. It’s really very simple. basic logic dictates you do things numerically so I naturally chose the next one in the sequence.
It uses the term “Unlock” and is specific as to which time line you are choosing to unlock. I don’t believe any reasonable person would read that to mean you’re unlocking both, regardless of which choice you make. It’s a choice for a reason (albeit a minor choice since the zone is easily repeatable and intended to be repeated).
The fact that it is easily repeatable is obviously good but now you’re saying I am unreasonable? Is there a block feature on this forum? I have really heard quite enough from you. Devs please remove this thread thanks.
On that, we are agreed.
I believe that once you finish a timeline the game adds something to the quests panel about unlocking the other path, and admittedly, I didn’t realize this meant you could repeat the timeline and have both paths opened until literally just earlier today.
That makes 2 of us. The info is not obvious imo and I just ran through it again with stopping to kill mobs until I got to the objective. It took me an hour and the lag at the end of each mission was very bad.
Don’t mind people arguing or calling you [insert any adjective here].
We have a lot of new players incoming and i sadly see alot of unecessary negativity in the last coupel of weeks.
I don’t think devs should remvoe this thread, this might give some other new player the exact same info that you got form this thread.
I am certain, that the overall new player experience and tutorials will get overhauled.
Teaching player about mechanics is very important and LE has a very very solid base for this, if the player get#s informed where they can watch.
All the info you need for MoF for example can be found in the Game Guide. (Press G ingame)
Having such a vast knowledge DB accesable in-game is truly amazing.
The devs just make sure to bring more attention to this feature to everybody.
Ok have to comment here. I don’t mind if the thread is left up for the reasons you mentioned. However checking the in-game guide I see the info is not specific enough to tell a new player that the right side of the timeline yields blessing choices that affect your character and the left is for gear etc. All it says is that choices you make affect which timelines open next. That is not enough imo.
To get to the reason for asking for the thread to be removed: I always find it amazing that some people cannot give info to others without being somehow insulting or belittling when they do it. I learned very quickly in the teaching game that that approach simply alienates students and turns them off. In short your job will not last very long. I have blocked the individual in question so I don’t see this situation reoccurring.
Thanks as always @Heavy for your positive and constructive approach to new players. You are one of the good ones.
We got a teaser from the devs from a recent live stream, that the whole blessing window get’s reworked. (And maybe even the base system around them)
Here we can have a sneak peak (this is WIP obviously)
But Mike (the devs that teasred this) they want to not show you Blessing that you have not unlocked yet. Only the Blessings that you at least “discovered” are shown.
So IMO you should not be able to see all the options in advance, that spoils the system way to much.
If oyu are really a player that solely wants to play for efficienty and you don’t have teh experience yet, using outside ressources is fine.
But i think we should not have this as a base system in the game.
That is unfornatue, but sadly i just see this become more and more grave, sicne we have alot of new players coming to LE and they often have the same questions over and over and over and over again.
I can’t even count how many unqiue LE Systems i already explained live on stream to “people coming from PoE” and i am happy to do so for another Eternity xD
Thank you for the kind words, just trying to do my part, to make this one of the best communities in gaming!
I feel your clashes with some of the other forumers in this thread comes from a basic misunderstanding.
It is clear to me you are completely new to the ARPG genre. As such, you have to realise that the kind of feedback you provide in OP, sounds to the experienced ARPG player like “you mean 2 + 2 has to equal 4? How is this a thing?”
Now, this is not meant to belittle your feedback because I actually think you bring a very fresh and valuable new player perspective for the game that veteran players are blind to. But I hope you also realise you don’t exactly have the most positive attitude and tone when you raise these seemingly “obvious” feedback. Hence why it might trigger some curt retorts from some of us.
Fostering a positive discussion environment is everyone’s responsibility. Let’s all do our part to make this game great.
Ah thx for the reply. You may be right as to how I bring up what seems to you to be “obvious” but no you’re wrong about my ARPG experience. I have literally 1000’s of hours in this type of game although admittedly a lot of it has been in D3, GD, MH and others and most of it as a solo player. As far as forum clashes go it has been really only one individual and he talks like that to pretty much everyone from what I can see. I have solved that problem but do be sure, I appreciate your feedback
Had you just asked how you unlock both The Stolen Lance and The Black Sun, Heavy’s response would have solved your problem without any further discussion necessary. But, when you took it a step further and had the gall to imply that the developers somehow tripped you up with a lack of dialogue, despite the clear use of the term unlock (and they even inform you how many pathways there are), that’s where you overstepped.
You then went on to claim that if you choose one path you cannot do the other, which is factually untrue. You just cannot do them simultaneously. But, keep blaming everyone else.
He can’t hear (see? read?) you
