Mono Leaderboard

If this is already covered somewhere and my archaic search abilities failed to find it i apologise profusely in advance. My thoughts on this are

  1. 7 different Mono leaderboards are available after you have completed / killed the boss (ie each one is gated behind killing the main boss for each island) on each of the 7 islands (i think they are called timelines but i think of them as 7 islands )
  2. The ranking is based on completion time
  3. If you die or teleport out the entire run fails and you start from scratch again (ie the way the mono were setup when 0.7.9 first launched the new Mono
  4. You need to be locked out from changing skills / swapping gear / idols etc … ie you must do the entire run with the exact same setup from start to finish
  5. No loot / gold / affixes etc drop but the run has a fixed amount of XP (hopefully a significant amount to make the time / effort investment worthwhile)
  6. Each of the 7 runs has a fixed number of echos say 30 in total being a) 9 then b) first quest echo then c) another 9 then d) second quest echo e) another 9 and then finally f) the boss
  7. The XP is heavily skewed so you earn 100% of XP for the island as follows
    a) first 9 echoes = 9 x 0.5% each = 4.5% total
    b) first quest echo = 5.5% -----> meaning first 1/3 of the run gets you 10% of XP avail
    c) next 9 echoes = 9 x 1.5% each = 13.5% total
    d) second quest echo = 16.5% -----> meaning second 1/3 of the run gets you 30% of XP avail
    e) next 9 echoes = 9 x 3% each = 27% total
    f) final boss = 33% -----> meaning final 1/3 of the run gets you 60% of XP avail

Just some of my thoughts for Mono Leaderboard and another challenge / endgame variation. So what do other players think of the topic of Mono Leaderboards ???

I like the idea of leaderboards for monoliths but I think the unpredictability of what modifiers you could get would make it too variable to be “fair”/“objective” since maybe you get a load of really nasty modifiers and I get a load of “nice” modifiers. If I get a slightly shorter time than you, I’d place higher even though you had a significantly harder run.

Edit: And what about load times? What if you’re running LE on a HDD from the 1970s (20 meg ftw) while I’m running it on the latest shineyest SSD and still only manage to beat you by a small margin? Do I really deserve a better spot than you given the handicap (golfing term) you’re operating under?

yeah that is a concern … maybe make it 15 runs not 30 then it not too punishing in terms of time and you can always redo the run a few times to even out the RNG
