I have a wide screen (3440x1440) and even with a RTX 2080 on very low settings, lag is still a major issue. Necromancer is the worst offender. It also seems to get worse after running the game for awhile. Therefore, I try to switch to (2560x1440) to get better performance, since only the center has to be rendered. However, every time I take a portal it resets my screen to full resolution. The settings will still show (2560x1440), but it will have gone back to (3440x1440).
There was an issue like this reported a few times quite a while ago… not sure if it was resolved specifically at the game level but I think that the users eventually found some sort of workaround for their setups…
Cannot find the old forum post(s) so I am not sure which option eventually worked the best but I recall messing around with the following items:
-
Window mode - Fullscreen vs Windowed Max…
-
Desktop resolution changing - i.e. they would change the resolution in windows before starting the game and then it would “stick” for the duration of the game. If I recall, this would work but it wasnt the ideal solution.
-
Unity player command line parameters to force a particular resolution (see here Unity - Manual: Unity Standalone Player command line arguments)
-
I recall someone also noticed a difference between HDMI/Displayport and there was some dynamic config on their monitor OSD that helped… Honestly dont recall the details of that tho…
-
GPU driver update…
Maybe try some of these and see if any of them help?
