Games don’t have to have all the QoL features. They don’t have to make everything easier.
You don’t demand FromSoftware to implement maps or quest trackers or many many other QoL features that souls games don’t have. I mean, you can demand them. Many players did. And FromSoftware ignored them and kept the game like it is. Because they don’t want casual players playing their game. They don’t want players that need all the QoL. Their game’s identity is completely opposite that
Making you think before your choices is also part of a game’s identity. Letting you experiment while preventing you from cheesing is also part of a game’s identity.
D3 didn’t care about this, it just wanted the casual players that don’t want to think too hard and want everything easy and fast. You played for a day and you were already speed farming GR120.
I don’t want LE to become D3, much like I don’t want LE to become a souls game. What I want from LE is what the devs seem to be aiming for, which is a sort of PoE/GD inspired game with novel ideas. And there are many QoL features being asked that would clearly shift LE towards the D3 side of the spectrum, namely instant respecs and mastery respec.
Because some people think that what you are proposing would be a net negative to the game overall because of what it would allow to happen. They also prefer choices having “weight” while not completely locking everything in stone when you click the ok button (which there should be).
You prefer the “QoL” of being able to easily swap between different builds for different things & that’s fair enough, different people are allowed to like different things & different games are allowed to do things differently. There being variety in games is a good thing.
Unless you have a friend who’s willing to give you the waypoints to pick up the quests for those idol slots & passives.
Because he sees it as mindless busy work which is preventing him getting to the, hopefully, interesting bit quickly. He’s not getting the dopamine hit quickly enough.
Sure, but game rushes by friends is a separate issue. That happens in PoE as well where you’re allowed to skip large parts as well. We were talking, or at least I assumed so, about leveling a character on your own.
Yes, that’s fair. And I do understand his point of view. I just get frustrated trying to explain several reasons why this is a bad thing and only getting back the same answer “but who does it hurt? I wanna, I wanna”.
Exactly, it’s mindless busy work preventing me from doing things faster. I most likely have ADHD, I can hyperfocus on stuff that interests me and have no problem doing them for 16 hours straight, but if something is in the way of my effectiveness then it annoys me. I’m a software developer, and I have no problem coding until 3 am but the mere thought of having to update my Jira tickets gives me PTSD. Having to relevel skills in Last Epoch is like having to drag Jira tickets around for me. Obviously, I drag around Jira tickets because I have to just like I relevel my skills because I have to, and crying about it once in a while gives me comfort, okay?
To be fair, that’s true. If there was instant respec, you still could pretend there isn’t, and put your last 10 points only after running 4 monos. Everyone would be happy.
That is not a good argument. It’s like saying that D3 doesn’t have to be an easy game because you don’t have to equip gear. You can run around naked and then it’s extremely hard. It’s a dishonest argument.
If a system is in place that gives an obvious advantage in using it, players that don’t like that only have 2 options: suck it up and use it, or decide it’s not for them and leave. Which is what happened with most D2 players in D3 (and D4).
I can understand that you want this. I even understand why. But you should also understand that the devs don’t want their game to be like this and accept it, instead of giving 20 variations of the same reason.
I view this like shards autopickup. I think it would be nice to have. The devs said they don’t want to and explained why. So I said ok and moved on. Either I accept it or I leave the game.
It’s ok to say you wished things were different. Going on and on and on about it, trying to convert everyone to your point of view (which will never happen for many) is just annoying.
Honestly, it’s more annoying than having to play 5 minutes to relevel your skills.
We all have our limits. One of mine is having to deal with a certain Finance “Director” in our Irish subsidiary. He just does my nut & apparently expects me to be his bitch, despite me really not & having an aweful lot of stuff to do for the rest of the Group.
Yeah, the minmaxers get to do that & get all the nice shiny dopamine hits way faster, the content creators get to talk about it & get moar subs because of the aforementioned more shiny stuffs, the noob scrubs that don’t like getting loot get to not get as much loot & the devs get to cry into their beverages of choice because their vision for their game is being pissed on desecrated.
Fair play. And bonus points for appropriate capitalisation.
I fundamentally disagree with this. Until/unless the devs say something like, "we enjoy pulling the wings off of flies and wasting the time of newer players that, in their hubris, want to play around with different builds instead of just all going out and finding a build on one of the hint sites (and by God, stick with it!), then they are open to feedback and suggestions*.
The fewer people that reply to a threads ==> less passion/interest in a topic = less interest from EGH. So, not replying to every one of these suggestion threads is the better way to keep the status quo AND not crush the spirits of new forum members. Unless you happen to be bored at work like me, and then… well, this is what you get.
*And they won’t say that, because EHG dev actions, especially in regard to trading, have proven that they are open to feedback.
Now if they have said something insane like, “we want you to pick up shards in a small radius because it builds character you slackers”, clearly they have been taken over by demons, aliens or accountants and we’re all doomed.
There is a difference between saying “I’d like this to happen for reasons” and saying “I’d like this to happen for reasons” 20 times in the same thread. The devs are aware of the reasons players have for wanting this. Constantly whinning in the same thread with repetitions of the same thing isn’t feedback, it’s just annoying.
You should definitely post your feedback on these threads. The devs are aware of them. Which is why we now have minimum levels and accelerated XP when we didn’t have that initially. Just don’t flood it with (basically) useless variations of the same reason.
To be fair, it’s not always apparent when it’s a joke/sarcasm. @Llama8 can attest to that
The same exact argument for one person is a joke and to another it’s a serious statement.
only read first couple of posts but yeah +1 this. Minimum skill should be exponentially more. If the current/expected skill’s level is 8, but your minimum is 1, it’s actually useless. And it really never hits a point where it’s helpful.
DJSamhein Llama is joking, this is actually sarcastically self-deprecating. I’m in a weird place right now where I’m explaining jokes, I’m going to try to stop that.
It is sarcastic but it’s not self-derecating as I’m not making fun of myself, I’m making fun of all the people who are too stupid to understand my jokes 'cause they are all obviously hilarious & if you don’t think so then you’re clearly too much of a mouth-breathing window-licker to understand such highbrow comedy as fart jokes & double entendres.
