The edge marker that is supposed to show the direction to a quest outside the range of your mini-map is very poor at its function.
It seems to be based purely on the x/y range of the mini-map
As a consequence the quest maker will sit exactly in the corner of the mini-map if the quest is not inside the very narrow ‘cross’ shaped region that streches out directly up, down and to the sides from the edge of the mini map.
For quests that are not very close by, this means that you won’t get any real direction information unless it in a range of a few degrees of true north/south/east/west.
i. e. the quest marker will show go towards 45 deg, but the quest could be anywhere in the range 10-80 deg.
It would be nice if the edge marker was placed on the figurative line between my character and the quest, so i remain useful also when the quest is not directly above me.
