Mini map icons

please add icons or let us add them (with a tickbox etc) to our mini map display. such as exalted items or idol’s etc. i find it a pain especially if playing a damage over time build where items drop and i have to run back through the map to find dropped items. if they had an icon on my mini map i would know they have dropped. i know there is ‘beam’s of light’ but they are useless if you have allready left that area.

Dropped uniques already have a minimap icon, a red star. See here:

Your problem sounds more like you’re not staying in the area where the monster dies, instead you’re moving forward too fast. The solution to that would be increasing your damage so that your kill speed can keep up with your movement speed
OR
you stop moving forward so quickly.

No, I agree with OP. More map icons and drop sounds are certainly needed, all customizable preferably.
While LE’s loot filter is arguably the best, it sure feels lackluster when we cannot customize map icons and sounds for specific item drops.

There’s this mod available to use in offline mode that does this. After seeing some screenshots, I felt really tempted to start playing offline, even if it’s kinda “ugly” atm, because the icons are the actual mini images of the items, not proper icons. lol.

They do and the devs would like to do it, but they can’t because of performance issues. Mike has said before that the filter is already hitting the limit as it is with 75 rules. Adding more rules or more to the rules likes sounds and beacons would increase that strain and hit performance.
When they can improve it, I’m sure we’ll get them.

Well, from what I understand it’s not really being worked on. Not actively anyway. They’re constantly trying to improve performance and if they improve it enough they might then expand the loot filter. But I don’t think they’re actively looking into it until they can improve overall performance.
Maybe with the unity engine upgrade that should come sometimes next year?

But honestly… Who needs 75 rules?? Even with very strict filters I rarely hit more than 30 or 40 rules.

in fairness i use 75. and i would use a lot more if allowed. but this is only as so far its a nightmare to do rules for uniques. you have to do many for each unique individually unfortunately. hopefully that will change sooner rather than later

Yeah, with all that off-screening and fast movement, it’s very easy to miss a drop you could really need.

You don’t actually need that. As long as you don’t have a rule to hide uniques, it will show by default.

I also used only this before playing CoF for the first time this cycle. But now I cannot bare to play CoF without at least three more rules for uniques: “recolor-emphasize 3-4 LP”, “recolor-emphasize 20+ WW” and “hide 14- WW”.

My life is so much better now.

Edit: just remembered they added that option only very recently, after 1.1 release, so it’s not like I could do that before XD
