Thanks for your summary and analysis. But I do not see any examples here of EHG stating the factions are meant to be equal or balanced.
Trade was implemented before 1.0 by the way… For party-members. So we did not “only have the ability to find items ourselves…” we had the ability to acquire items dropped within our party.
“We believe that through the item faction system we will deliver a tailored and exciting path to hunt for top-tier items for both camps of players.” - this does not compare MG and COF or imply that they are equal… This suggests there are 2 different options for 2 different play-styles, trade or self-found… I don’t see how this “puts them into equivalence” to paraphrase your argument… I have an apple for people who like apples, and I have an orange for people who like oranges… This does not imply apples and oranges are equal or similar, it emphasizes that they are different lol…
Yeah, but the trade system in groups was working better without taking the factions into consideration, now it’s more constrained then before, which is a net negative I would say.
Actually a good example with the apples and oranges.
The former situation was that apples and oranges were fairly equal, not much difference there.
Though now someone came along providing a fertilizer for apple farms, so tons and tons of apples are around, enough for everyone.
To avoid the orange lovers to be left behind they hence also invented a orange fertilizer so they can indulge their enjoyment in a similar amount.
It just turned out that one of the fertilizers works a lot better then the other. Especially since apple and orange lovers are nigh split 50/50. You would imagine the effort to please them both to be a similarly important endeavor hence. To improve the recipe of the respective fertilizers so they work similarly well.
