The economy in the Merchants guild has devolved to people giving away items in order to increase their rank, which give you no incentive to interact with the Merchants guild at all because you have no way to gain gold until you are max rank. I think there needs to be a dump of the merchants guild economy and some sort of hotfix to prevent this kind of issue. Gold has become useless to the economy.
I thought you only had to list an item to get rep/rank, did they change that in 1.0?
Thats what i thought. Dont recall any change to this in 1.0 patch notes
No yeah I’m sure the entire economy is totally and irrevocably destroyed after only two days where most people aren’t even able to play and engage with the economy for very long.
huh? I get my reputation through killing monsters though? I am already at rank 5 without having to sell anything?
I’m not positive you will get any (or very much) from killing at some point but the early levels yes. When you first join you will not have enough rep to do anything so you have to kill things which will level you up a bit and give you some rep.
silly question, but what are all you merchant guild players going to do with gold?
Circle of fortune baby!
The point of MG isn’t to get gold (although there are gold sinks in the game, namely in dungeons). The point is to get gold so we can have the health/health idol we want, or the chance to cast flame wraiths, almost instantly and with little effort.
Instead of going CoF, farming for hours and, because it’s still RNG, maybe not get it anyway.
correct me if im wrong, but I cant change the price of an item I list anyway
I believe you unlist it, then relist at the correct price and pay the listing fee in favor again.
Gold was useful?
What about when everyone is max rank? If theyre giving away items to hit max rank faster… dont they stop giving away items once theyre max rank?
Im honestly just confused as to how exactly this entirely ruins the economy forever. Im pretty sure the MG is for item trading yeah, not for specifically gold gain? Isnt the gold literally just a means towards the end goal of trading items?
If the trading part is still happening, then I fail to see the issue. Value is determined by players: if players want an item its worth a lot and if they dont its worth very little. Right now hitting max rank is worth more than gold: over time, the value of rank decreases as more players hit max rank and the number of buyers/sellers inflates, and then gold becomes more valuable than rank.
This just sounds like a boohoo.
Just because gold is something in other games, doesn’t mean it has to be something in this game. They places restrictions on how to trade things, so it’s not like you can really freely use gold to do whatever. Then better items are listed as higher prices in gold anyway.
As above, think of what the gold is actually used for.
You can’t really say that’s it’s ruined. You can only ruin something if it has history or was established. It’s not even up and running completely. It’s just launch. If they add or implement new things where gold can be used for more, that will add to it’s value. It’s not like it’s currency that can be freely traded for whatever. That would make it worth more.
Sure, listing costs a little favor, then you get a little back or something. It’s not very clear and I can see why a lot of people would think listing helps rank up. Some people just have to try it out. I listed something for 0 just to see how much it would progress rank/favor. Still too new.
Because it does? Spending favour increases you rank, regardless of what services you’re using that favour to procure.
