Melee/spell hybrid weapons and base crit. 2h sceptor?

Can you guys re-define 2h maces as caster/batttlemage weapons, that have spell power and attack power with some base spell crit implicit options? We need a non staff 2hander for the specs that swing a weapon in melee and deal spell damage =)

Won’t happen. I would love to see this just to roll the less dmg taken from crits on it what no other spell dmg weaon is able to. I would love to free up so many affixes just by using one on a 2handed weapon when I mostly only need one suffix anyway. Would be stupid op and I would love it for a day untill I feel dirty abusing this.

Why would it not happen? This would require a pass at what mods are available on the weapon in general so those stupid OP things cant exist.

Because at the end of the day 2 handed maces would be staffs if they change it and keep the balance. That’s why it won’t happen from my point of view :man_shrugging: .

See this is the problem, you are not thinking about what this would mean correctly

the 2h mace should have less spell damage then a staff, but more melee damage. It should have base spell crit or spell crit multi as implicits.

It should have melee attack speed as a rollable option but not cast speed.
honestly the best way to put this, is it should have the rollable options of a scepter. Scepter is the perfect example of “its not a wand, and its not a 1h mace”. Problem is base spell crit, and the ability to use things like titanheart. 2h maces from a fantasy PoV often have spell damage attributes and is a tool for the hybrid user, while the sword and axe are left to the pure melee and the staff is left to the pure caster

So you want 2handed scepters so to speak? If so everything is fine and there will be no problems with affixes.

basically yes. With the exception of base spell crit as an implicit option depending on base

2h scepter could be described as a maul, or something similar.

There is just one thing you shouldn’t forget: There are no caster weapons with a +crit implicit for a reason besides the dagger that has a bit spell dmg. I think they will also never add this because it would be ultra strong when most spells offer kind of 3 crit chance if you invest points in the skilltree.

this is only true for newer skills. Older skills do not have this.

I remember Fireball from the top of my head that allows to stack crit and the skill isn’t new. Hungering souls is an old skill allowing to go crit. Marrow shards that wasn’t touched for years offers crit. Smite offers crit and is old. I don’t look at every skill now but those old skills having crit opportunities invalid your statement a tad bit.

I’m 99% sure there is no crit tag on caster weapons for a reason and if you want to go for spellcrit there is an offhand option you can use that is most likely in place, instead of twohanded weapons, to avoid high spell damage weapons with crit chance on it.

As mentioned before I think those choices have been made for a specific reason and keeping said reasons in mind I don’t know if a caster weapon with crit, outside of the dagger, will ever happen.
