Melee critical strike multiplier

Where can I see if this stat is actually doing anything?
I’m playing a melee build now and most of the weapons I pick up have like “100% melee critical strike multiplier” but they have no effect on the “critical strikes multiplier” or “increased melee damage” in stats.

You need to look at the crit damage when you use a skill if it doesn’t show up in character stats

Okay thanks, I’ve been keeping an eye on those, but they vary widely.

Lots of varience? you are probably running a build that gains a lot of temporary buffs from various sources, because the values only vary by about 20% or so from my experience(unless you forget to gain penetration)

Maybe test it on the training dummies in the arena

Really? wow, I’m seeing yellow numbers anywhere from low hundreds up too around 2000 right now. I have 51% chance so they’re pretty regular.
This is the first time I’ve ever focused on melee and crit so I don’t really know what I’m doing right now but I’ll learn.

If it is that inconcistent, you probably do not have enough physical penetration and you are seeing the smaller numbers on enemies with a lot of phys res

unless this is the training dummy, in which case something is off about your skill setup/rotation that heavily effects the damage

Or you have armor shred and the damage ramps up

Well that makes alot of sense. I haven’t focused on penetration at all.
I’m level 64 right now doing regular monos, so I’m just now starting to pick up better gear that makes a difference. I probably wouldn’t have bothered with penetration so thanks for the info. I do have some shred from the skill tree but I guess both are needed?

I went to the test dummies and I was seeing crits from between 1500 and 6000.

what is your build by the way? That could explain a lot depending on what it is

I’m playing a primalist druid, always in werebear form.
First time ever playing this class in any game.
So far I’m having 2 issues:
1 - low damage. I’ve been focusing mainly on melee, physical, and crit with a little bleed but this guy takes a long time to kill right now. Luckily his survivability is good.
2 - A big problem I have is sometimes the guy literally can’t reach enemies so he won’t attack. I just now went into the fall of the outcasts timeline boss fight where you have to kill the 4 towers before you can damage the boss. Well I was standing right in front of the towers and he would not melee attack. All I had were my cooldowns with more range but they were going to be way too slow so I just TP’d out.

You can test on a dummy as well for dmg calculating

Don’t forget you might propably add some ailments and stuff like that what may lead to some small numbers on screen. The Skill you crit with should be relative conssitent in a fixed level range.

I just started using those last night. They are a big help to see what’s going on. Especially since the numbers are much smaller than the DPS shown in the toolbar. I guess that means I need more shred and penetration to actually get those numbers maybe.

I realized yesterday that the big fluctuations were do to the “aspect of the panther” node which is giving me Increased global damage per stack everytime I swipe. So I would see the DPS in the toolbar for swipe go from like 10K dps to about 15k really quickly. It decays fast though. I’m considering respecing into full bleed and crit though since I’m not doing much damage at the moment.

I didn’t even know Majasa could heal herself until I fought her with this build. The fight was so long she actually healed twice. I killed her before she could do that in previous builds.
