I know, it’s pure greed, but leaving all those items on the ground is such a waste of resources. 
It’s totally ecological incorrect. Think of all the rust and heavy metals polluting the ground! Maybe it would be possible just to magically clean up when leaving the area and refund 5% of the value as gold?

would also add that gold that u missed get collected for 100% value and shards get collected directly to stash
