After the patch, I started a new Necromancer and I brought up through the whole campaign to Lagon. Then, I had the new quest.
At that moment, I was hoping to keep her deathless, so I wanted to have more information. I switched to a level 97 Necro and I followed the quest and completed Chapter 9. Not good, not proud of it, but anyways…
It was difficult for her. I mean, that Necro has played several Empowered timelines, and she struggled in the new chapter.
Then I switched to my newly created deathless Necro. Who is not deathless anymore, by far. It was difficult for the first one, it was a nightmare for the “young” one.
My question is… how is difficulty scaled? What does “monster level 57” mean compared to “monster level 1” or “monster level 100”? Is there a public calculation rule for this?
I have been bringing up a fire necro for the past week or so. Managed to get through chapter 9 yesterday on her, but it was really rough.
The patch notes said they were trying to improve the feeling that early monolith was much easier than late campaign. From my perspective as a new player (this necro is my first to monolith), they’ve dramatically missed the mark there. I’ve only played the level 58, 62, and 66 timelines so far, but all of them feel drastically easier than the post Lagon campaign.
Considering that monolith areas with Monster Level 57 are significantly easier than the Chapter 9 areas, I’m pretty sure Chapter 9 is just very overtuned at the moment. I’ve opened my own thread about the issue, as have others. You aren’t alone
