The difficulty kicks in once you hit the Monoliths. You are not supposed to spend any more time on the campaign than you need to. It’s a glorified tutorial really. You might also try the Arena.
Campaign = tutorial, get it over with as quick as you can
Monoliths + Arena = end-game
