I will preface this by saying I do have sight problems. I lost an eye and my “good” eye does suffer from white being an overpowering thing on a screen. It can bloom over things. That being said, the overlay map in the desert is impossible for anyone to see, and I think this is because it doesn’t darken over the screen slightly. I have no real problems with it anywhere else. The ability to zoon and thicken the lines are SO useful for me, but I’d love the ability to just darken the screen slightly when I open the map just so the map stands out over the the desert of snow areas. It just gets eaten by that kind of background. I totally understand if no one else has that kind of problem too.
I think a good solution would be like it was in D2: the overlay map is slightly more opaque at the center and gets more transparent towards the edges.
You could just add sliders to adjust this opaqueness, as well as line thickness and zoom.
I don’t see this being a detriment to anything and it’s a good idea even for people with better eye sight, since some bright maps make it harder to see the minimap for everyone.
It’s not only you, mate.
It’s also very hard for me to see the overlay in certain maps, not only the desert.
Never had any kind of sight problems and my vision is pretty good to a point I never even needed to wear glasses so far, almost in my 40’s. It’s really poorly implemented and needs some love.
PoE’s solution is also nice, where there’s sliders for both the outline and the terrain around the map. I personally set the terrain to 0, but I’ve seen people saying the terrain helps them locate themselves better in the map.
