The Star Guide node in the Mana Strike tree reads “Mana Strike automatically targets the enemy closest to the cursor…” this would seem to imply that as long as there is an enemy within range to target it should never fail to acquire a target. Unfortunately this seems to happen all the time. If your cursor is far away from an enemy or especially in the opposite direction of an enemy relative to your character it will often whiff. Range should never be an issue because with the previous node, Teleporting Strikes, it seems like the range of Mana Strike is virtually infinite (at least to the edge of your screen). Also the game doesn’t appear to have any attack or movement mechanic that would directly interfere with being able to target enemies in certain positions like turn speed.
