I have specced into Arcanist’s Blade(3), Mana Drain(4), Critical Mana(5) and Critical Rejuvenation(1) nodes of Mana Strike and with modifiers I have 100% crit chance and can refill my mana in 4 or 5 hits.
Mana fills back up fast at target dummy and in all other fights I can remember, but at Lagon it takes much longer and more hits to refill.
I put on damage numbers and I am definitely critting every hit with Mana Strike, but am not getting the correct mana returned. It feels really weak and takes many more hits.
It feels like I’m only getting Arcanist’s Blade (10+9) per hit and none of the other modifiers are active.
But it may be something to do with Lagon and not Mana Strike as I’ve not noticed it anyhere else.
Are you talking about Campaign Lagon or Monolith Lagon? If it’s the monolith version, did you select any “enemies have xxx critical strike avoidance” modifiers? If so, that would be why you’re not getting any additional mana on crit, because Lagon is not taking as many crits (and if it’s 100%, he wouldn’t be taking any crits). Though that wouldn’t explain why you’re not seeing any benefit from Mana Drain.
I’m pretty sure I had no crit avoidance modifiers … I never select it if it comes up as an option as it affects my mana gain - so I always take something else.
Every hit on Lagon was a crit - I turned on damage numbers to check, I normally have them off. I’d noticed it on previous Lagon fights and wondered why it felt different.
Mana was going up faster than just regen - but it seemed like although I was critting, that it wasn’t being applied to the mana gain.
The tentacles and crabs returned mana as expected, but Lagon definitely not.
I have (10 + 9 + 15) x 1.8 = 61.2 mana per hit.
Mana went up in steady chunks of around 20 - I got mana back from every hit, just much lower than the expected amount - as if only the base + Arcanist’s Blade were working giving 10 + 9 = 19 per hit. Or maybe only Mana Drain active giving 10 x 1.8 = 18 per hit.
It was not “miss, miss, 61, miss, miss, 61” but “20, 20 ,20 ,20, 20”.
If a mob did have 100% crit avoidance, you’d still get the “normal” amount of mana back from the base skill, Mana Drain & Arcanist’s Blade, so you’d see (10 + 9) * 1.8 each hit. Maybe Lagon has a “cannot be crit” modifier when he puts his head down. shrugs
