From my testing, the affix “Mana spent gained as Ward” does not apply to procced skills consuming mana. This may be intended, but I think the tooltip should then reflect that.
But on the other hand, why does this not work? As mage, all procs that I know of, won’t cast if you don’t have the mana for it anyway. It might be some balancing issue that I’m unaware of (maybe another class). I see it as, if you have the mana for it, why wouldn’t it work? Same strength as in hardcasting the ability.
Maybe this have been ok beforehand but with the newly added procs (static orb to mana strike, lightning blast & fireball to flame reave, lightning blast to enchant weapon, glacier to shatter strike), this doesn’t feel quite right.
If the affix name just needs to be updated, a suggestion would be “Mana Spent gained as Ward on Direct Cast”, similar to the “Increased Cast Speed and Ward gain on direct Spell Cast” corruption gloves can have.
