Hello! I just hit level 60, doing monoliths for the first time, still HC. I am very new, to this game, first character to this point. I wanted to ask for help on theorycrafting, as I’ve been glancing through tips and builds, I really have no idea what stats are at what priority level. Additionally, I’m not sure how to balance Mega Damage and Survivability in my stats and skill point distribution. What I’m mostly looking for is a methodology for how to determine what’s best, over just copying what other people do because it’s popular.
My build linked below is still far from being my ideal final setup (In terms of skills) I leveled mostly with Volatile Reversal instead of Healing Hands, so I’m not terribly set on either. Also, from what i’ve seen it looks like most people just stack endurance for Sentinel. I much prefer the idea of Ward, just because it seems safer to me (Especially with Symbols+Aura!), but I can be convinced either way!
In short, I don’t know how to weight the value of Attunement vs Strength vs Vitality or if I should forego damage from stats and focus more on affixes like elemental damage? Or Damage over time? Any and all advice is welcome as i’m eager to learn the basics and try to formulate some kind of path that isn’t just copying popular builds 1:1
I’m playing lightning javelin as well, will switch to physical later.
First thing first, your javelin spec into dealing Hit damage, while your smite spec with electrify, which is damage over time, DOT.
I recommend that you think about whether you’d like to play a cri build or a dot build first
I’m playing with a cri build, therefore, I would not stack any dot stat anywhere. Instead I’d focus on cri chance, cri multi, lightning damage, and throw damage.
Secondly, endurance is just one defensive stat; in the end, you are going to max out most of them, including endurance, cri avoidance, resistance, stun avoidance, etc.
I’m not familiar with ward build, but sentinel has many ways to heal, which is more beneficial for a health build. but there are many ward build out there you can search for.
For ward build, you are looking for ways to generate wards and also for ways to retain them. While for health build, you can just start with as much health as possible and use Smite to heal yourself.
Sorry, it seems too much info, but first,y you should focus on whether you’d like a cri / dot build, then stack accordingly.
Secondly, for your gear and passive, focus more on the defensive side.
For endurance, you can go for a blessing or a ring affix. For health, stack it through every gear, focus on %health, and hybrid health.
I am playing something similar with multistrike but I have experimented with javelin a bit. I think Javelin alone can do good damage with electrify but I would suggest to get a weapon that benefits Javelin and rely on smite idols for smite procs. Also HH generates ward if you self cast smite or cast HH manually. There are guides for both hit Javelin and dot Javelin (that one here in the forum) to get some ideas, but to sort out defences, you need to focus on a specific way of scaling damage and then build around it.
