Mage channel skills get interrupted by any other spell cast; mage remains stuck in channel animation even when the spell ends

I’m playing Mage, when I use Disintegrate or Flamethrower Fireball (and presumably other channel skills) and then use another skill, such as Flame Ward or Arcane Ascendance, the channel spell stops but my character remains stuck in the channelling animation so I have to release my channel button to be able to walk. The spell also stops consuming mana so presumably this means the spell has ended but the animation remains (instead of the spell still being channelled but not producing a spell effect)

The spell breaks but the channel animation/self-root remains both when I use valid skills that work while channelling, like Flame Ward, and ones that don’t like eg. volcanic orb or selfcast lighting blast which require a cast animation. In either case, the only way to move and stop the animation is for me to release the button I use my channelling skill with.

I believe valid skills useable during channelling like Flame Ward or Arcane Ascendance aren’t supposed to break your channel like this, and I suppose using a spell with a cast animation should break the channel and use that skill instead and allow movement instead but currently in both cases it stops the spell but keeps you in the animation indefinitely until released (and the volcanic orb cast never happens, instead it just stops the cast but not the animation)
