Love a rational defense of this trash game mechanic, and why anyone would want it in any game

This issue has been created by EHG allowing you to enter monoliths from the moment you could go to End of Time, there was a bad expectation set for longer term players (who have run the story 60 times) you could go to Monos and power level. Personally I never did that but I always ended my story campaign right after Yulia and doing the 3 quests, getting my idol slots, all passives. I think you are missing 1 to all stats for clearing Majasa but it isnt worth the time

So I would head to mono’s around 44-47 depending and this change probably wont affect me at all. The fault is still on EHG for not forcing the campaign the way PoE does. They force the campaign on you so hard you dont even want to reroll sometimes and the only way around it is to level faster and get better at the game. You need everything from their campaign - 22 skill points, your lab ascendancies and you need to kill Kitava to enter maps which forces the resistance penalty

Rational thought leads me to think that a video game company wants players to play out the entire video game at a pace that they feel will take the players enough time that they won’t play through the entire game too quickly, re-roll alts/other builds, burn through those, and then get bored. i.e. I want to design my game for as much player retention as possible within reason.

I also want players to learn the game properly, again, to retain players by providing an enjoyable yet challenging game.

For both of those reasons, I would prevent power leveling, either solo or by grouping.

That would be the rational, logical reason for such a mechanic.

More hyperbole and pretension that you haven’t gotten any answers. You have them and don’t like them. An 800 word essay doesn’t change that. And calling out your tone is perfectly valid. You are here arguing, your argumentative style is perfectly valid for criticism as it is the very context of this conversation.

Zaodon said it pretty well. So did Shrukn. DaveTheBarbarian as well. DiceDragon has as well now.
