There is no real power leveling possible in LE. You experience gained is capped at 10+ area level above your character.
Also on top of that getting a character power leveld but not really progressing it yourself will cause you a lot of issues with your build not being fine tuned as much and possibly having very bad gear once you are relatively high level.
Since you struggled with all kinds of builds in the past I think this actively would be a detriment for you and giving you an even harder time that you already have on many characters.
