Instead of logging out when I want to go from one character to the other, can we get an option to take us back to character select?

Yeah, this has been requested in the past (and even a bug report when it first changed to this from that). Hopefully they will change that in the very near future.

I know they’ve talked about it but it’s been a while and I can’t remember when this first started happening was it launch that it first happened? or MP? I just seem to remember, at the time, there was some sort of technical work-around for another issue that required them to do this.
Totally agree though, I wish it would go back to the character select screen.
I don’t think it should be what it was nor what it is. While almost always you’ll want to simply switch characters, there are reasons why you’d want to go to the main screen, like having a high ping on servers and wanting to switch to offline (false offline).
The best solution is what PoE already does (although in PoE that option doesn’t make much sense, tbh), which is a button to bring you to character selection and another to bring you to the main screen.
